The Struggles of online dating

Online dating. Is there anything more simultaneously thrilling and anxiety-inducing in the world of romance? It promises so much: an endless pool of potential partners, a quick and easy way to connect with like-minded people, and the tantalizing possibility of finding that illusive "one." And yet, it can be a minefield of false starts, awkward conversations, and unanswered messages.

Of course, picking the appropriate platform is the first challenge. Do you go for a more traditional site, with lengthy questionnaires and compatibility rankings, or do you try out the swiping frenzy of a dating app? Or maybe you decide to jump in the deep end and join one of the more niche sites, like one exclusively for gamers or lovers of sport?

The next step is to build your profile after making your decision. This may be a hard business - how do you express yourself in a way that's enticing, yet honest? Do you mention your love of cats, or is it a turn-off for potential dates? Do you include that photo of you on a hike, or does it give off too much of a "trying too hard" vibe?

Next up comes the issue of back and forth messaging. You send a witty, but not too try-hard message to someone who catches your eye, only to be met with silence. Or worse, you get a response, but it's clearly a copy-pasted form letter that they sent to every other person on the site. Or maybe you find yourself in the midst of a fun conversation, only to have it peter out into nothingness for no reason you can discern.

And let's not forget the weirdos. The people who show up for dates with terrible hygiene, or who spend the entire time bragging about their high score on Candy Crush. The ones who ask for your phone number within a minute of connecting, or who reveal that they're married and looking for an affair.

Despite all of these headaches, though, something keeps us coming back to the world of online dating. Perhaps it's the excitement of the hunt or the expectation that the next message we get will be the one that fundamentally alters everything. Maybe it's just the comforting realization that we're not alone in this crazy online dating adventure. After all, there are countless souls out there, swiping, clicking, and yearning for the very same thing we desire.

In the end, it's all worth it when we find that one special person who makes all the swiping and awkward conversations and bad dates fade into the background. And until we find them, we'll just keep swiping - because who knows? The next person we match with could be "the one."

I recently started online dating and I certainly have gone through a lot more stress and half of it revolves around changing my profile

Thanks for the compliment 🙏

Online dating can be so annoying. Messaging without reply and sometimes one would get insulted .

Although I have not done this before.
