Prompt #15 (Thoughtfulness Part 2): Expression of Writing

Writer

Writing is one of my joys in life as a hobby—to share my stories of fiction and nonfiction, becoming an outlet of my emotions and voicing out my thoughts.

In my childhood, my writing in English was bad, as I didn't care about my wrong grammar since the only thing I wanted inside my mind was sharing imaginative stories and joining fandoms (a community of people who are passionate about films, a band, a television show, a book, or a sports team and celebrities), especially to any anime (Japanese cartoon) out there.

I love to read the positive comments in my stories, as they, the readers, gave me encouragement to continue to write my stories, and the majority didn't mind about my broken English before. Little by little, it did improve my grammar through practice.

At that time, I started to write and post my fanfiction online in my 6th grade.

I assumed that's where I started to think that I wanted to be an author.

When I almost graduated from high school, my social studies teacher suggested I should major in journalism since she knew that I love to write, and I even gifted her a story in handwritten form on three pages of paper back-to-back as a present for her birthday.

I thought she knew what I liked, so I did take her suggestion without doing any research on what I'm taking in.

Unbeknownst to my naive teenage self, it is the opposite of what I want. It was supposed to be in literature, but journalism is more about writing facts, news, and research.

I learn my lesson in life that I should research first, then enter where I go.

In the end, I did enjoy my major, and it is sometimes frustrating simultaneously.

I learn the different forms of style in writing, such as sports, business, opinion, environmental science, and the most important subject is the news article. Not only that, but also media ethics, some media law, editing, and other subjects that relate to journalism.

It was like seeing the outside world, to which it is not a black-and-white picture but a gray-shaded area.

I almost shifted from my major because I don't have the heart to continue since I learned too late that I don't want to be a journalist and an author who publishes books as my career path.

I discovered that realization when I was in my 3rd year of college, and I realized back then that it was nothing but a hobby.

One day when I was doing my morning devotion, when I opened my bible with a heavy heart, there was one sentence that lingered to me, telling me not to give up.

I knew that God talked to me, so I pursued and graduated on time thanks to Him, and then pandemic struck in December 2019 while I experienced the physical graduation march in May 2019.

God has reasons for His encouragement, and that's one of the reasons why I didn't change my major.

In the end, I did not use my writing skills as my career path, but I decided to use Eccency or other platforms to write and post my thoughts, any Christian topics, and whatever I'm interested in to share with.

It's either to uplift others, sharing stories and reflections, or researching facts that I'm curious about in a certain topic, and that's where I spread my thoughtfulness through a text or written art form.
