Random thoughts to write about

in #life7 years ago

Hello, steemians, and welcome to my page, eh!

For today's post, I just wanted to write about a few different things that don't really fit into a specific post.

The first thing is that canning season is almost upon me, which means that I need to clean out the back corner of the greenhouse where all my canning equipment is sitting. I have a couple of propane burners set up in that area specifically for doing the canning, water bath or pressure canning. I still do most of the prep work in the kitchen because it's easier that way, but I take the jars out to the greenhouse to do the actual canning, it's a lot less steam in the house that way, especially when water bath canning the tomatoes.
Of course, canning season also signifies the reemergence of the Blue Funnel Cult!

It's been raining off and on for the past 2 days now, but I don't mind because the garden needs the rail. It keeps me in the house, but that's not all bad because it gives me the urge to work on a few of my inside projects that I wouldn't otherwise work on. Of course, if all else fails, I can always take a nap. Staying up until 2:30 am talking to people on discord doesn't really help my sleep very much. I compensate for that by sleeping until noon, that seems to work for me. :-)

I've been trying to get more done on my music projects, but when the sun is shining, I tend to want to be outside instead of in the house, so things are going slowly with the music. Of course, this also affects my amplifier building work. I haven't gotten much done on any of those projects since the weather got warm.

I've been attempting to manually curate posts on steemit every day lately, but sometimes I drive my voting power down below 80%, and then I have to wait a day to let it recover. It seems that I always miss a couple of posts that I would have liked to upvote when I'm letting my vote power recover. My issue is that I don't like giving dust votes. I like to upvote a post with at least a 3 cent upvote, which means about 30% on my slider right now. I have also made it a personal policy to upvote any decent comment on my posts with at least a 3 cent vote. If it's less than 2 cents total, it doesn't get paid out in rewards with the way steem rewards are set up right now. I have heard that might change with the next hard fork, but until then it is what it is. Also, I like to reward people who interact with comments on my posts. Of course, doing that also uses up some of the voting power, three 30% upvotes almost equals a 100% upvote as far as draining the vote power, so some days I burn off a fair amount of my vote power just upvoting comments.
I have 1400 steem powered up right now, so when my 325 SP of delegations are subtracted from that, I'm upvoting with a bit over 1000 sp. My 100% upvote at full voting power is worth about 10-11 cents, depending on the value of Steem. That's not a very big vote, but it's something to work with anyway. It took me 14 months of posting almost every day, plus buying 25 steem with fiat to get to 1400 SP, but I'm happy that I've gotten this far, because it could certainly be worse. I've been powering up almost all of my steemit earnings lately to build up my account value. I still have a really long way to go to get anywhere near dolphin status, but if I win the lottery, that will change quickly. :-)
So, in the mean time, if you would like to earn a little bit on comments, just interact with me on my posts.

Well, that's all I have for this random post, if you read it all the way to the end, thank you!

having a dedicated space for canning must be nice!! It's hard to do it all in a small kitchen!

Yeah, it really helps the process. I've been running the canner outside for several years on a propane burner, but last year was the first year that I had an actual covered space for it.

Oh enjoy outdoors because it will also inspire you for later. Every thing has a moment. I always see in apocalyptic movies all the fruit jars and cans, i always stare at the apricots and things like that. I would love to have my own garden and pantry one day, not for apocalysis lol it is a kind of still life pleasure.
