Situated at the banks of the River Thames in the Southwestern Ontario, Canada, the Springbank Park is an extensive park that covers the area of 300 acres. Due to its extensive coverage, it is ranked as the largest park in Canada and is a venue for the renowned family-centered Story Book Garden Park which the kids and the adults equally adore and love to visit. Also, the large area of the park gives rise to 20 km of accessible trails for various recreational purposes.
In the early 19th century the Springbank Park was initially constructed at a place that was situated nearby the public water supply facility. The site for this park was initially proposed by Alderman James Egan, and the site was named as the former Reservoir Hill. However, as the time passed and the development of a water supply facility grew in pace, the city administration started to but=y more land surrounding the former Springbank Park site. Thus, the reservoir hill that was the initial place of the Springbank Park became a resort that was overhauled by steamboat. In this way movement of people was propelled to and fro London through the River Thames via this means of transportation.
As the time passed, the steamboat transport subdued and the construction of Railway took hold of transportation. Thus in 1896, the London Street Railways inaugurated a tram service that took charge of people’s movement in recorded timings.
Furthermore, within the park, the city administration decided to include many recreational facilities. They include a tennis court, a campground, a zoo, bowling alleys, and amusement park. All these amenities were completed before 1925.
Moreover, with the passage of time when the population started to grow around the park boundaries, the park administration also included a miniature train in the 1920s that quickly become a leading attraction to this date. However, at present, it is relocated from its initial position as a part of the reformation plan that took place in 2015.
Also, one of the greatest inclusion within the Springbank Park was the Storybook queen that was launched in the River Thames in 1960s. In this way, those visitors who visited the renowned Storybook Gardens of the Springbank Park could enjoy the feeling of the ancient riverboat journey.
