Quinoa - not for birds only

in #food6 years ago

I love quinoa. Here, I said that. Not ashamed! As a vegetarian who avoided gluten and sugar, I had to expand my culinary horizons and get out of my predicament, so quinoa became an insignificant part of my daily diet. In fairness, I must admit that I had eaten quinoa before that because years ago my dear mother, who would live, decided that she would take all the members of the household to the healthy side of the moon and that there was nothing in the house that was not entirely full of flour and so on. So we all knew new additions like quinoa, buckwheat, millet, or as many people I know would call it: bird food.
So yes, maybe it's also bird food, a pretty cool animal in my eyes that I'm happy to share food with, but it's also super healthy for our kind of humans and when you know how to cook and invest it can also come out delicious and satisfying and wonderful. There are several reasons why quinoa is a healthy and nutritious food for us. One reason is that quinoa is a special grain that, apart from extremely high nutritional values and rich in fiber, phosphorus, iron and magnesium, is also the only grain that combines a high amount of high quality protein. Well, botanically, to be precise, not even grain, just marketing it that way. But do not let this confuse you. The bottom line is that quinoa is a great addition to your menu and body.
So what can you do with quinoa you ask? Well, it does not have to be a boring and tasteless stew as many people imagine it. If you cook it right, it does not have to come out sticky, thick and mushy but "one by one" and you can make it as much as you like. Incidentally, both the thick and the daisy do not have to be bad, but it's already the genre's fans. I personally have no problem with this and I actually like to throw a quinoa pot and water and a million and one vegetables of all kinds and even add coconut milk, a selection of nuts and cranberries into it. Then I close the lid (or not) and there is a delicious dish. And if these do not come to you, there is also a variety of wonderful cold quinoa salads that you can make. For example, in Tabula, the traditional bulgur can be replaced with quinoa. You can also go wild and add chopped mint, cranberries, thin green apple salses, walnuts, baby leaves, red onions, a little lemon and tahini, and see what a wonder, a delicious delicacy, fresh, fresh, nourishing and satisfying! Bull for summer.
In addition to these recipes, which are a little taken for granted, you can also make baked health snacks from quinoa. The fun part with quinoa is that in the oven it can become really crispy and you can add nut spreads and the nuts themselves with cubes of fruit and goji berry and in short - there are many surprises hidden under the quinoa. So no, not only. And there are quite a few original ideas and surprising recipes that involve quinoa and I recommend that at least try, it never hurts.
