Today we had our 2nd water themed event of this month. With Pokéstops' Photo Discs giving quests that have Feebas as a reward. Which could be obtained within the 3 hour window that we're used to for Community Days. Any quests obtained within the time frame could still be finished afterwards to get the Feebas spawn reward.
I had to go somewhere first so I wasn't able to start playing for the event immediately when it started. Once I was able to start playing for the event an hour had already passed, so I knew I might not be able to get that many quests completed, especially as I didn't know yet what objectives we would have to do for them.
There were 4 objectives we could get:
- Make 15 Nice Throws
- Make 10 Great Throws
- Earn a Candy walking with your Buddy
- Hatch 1 Egg
The first quest to earn a Candy walking with my Buddy was a quest I threw out as I had my Shinx set as a Buddy, with still about 2.5km before getting a Candy. So I wanted to make space for some quests. When I got the first quest to hatch 1 Egg I checked my eggs and I only had 10 km eggs in Incubators with still at least 4 km of distance required and no 2 km eggs available. Thus I threw it out too and mostly focused on the ones with making Nice/Great Throws.
I ran into someone I know quite fast, so then I kept walking around with him to go and spin different Pokéstops. We ran into the other person we walked around with during the Totodile Community Day too. He didn't join us for long though as he had to be somewhere. Once my Shinx was about to find a Candy I did keep that quest when I got it.
When there were about 25-30 minutes of the event remaining my game often kept showing a spinning circle. Spinning a Pokéstop did not show the items on screen and clicking on a Pokémon would not bring up the catch screen. Then it showed me a network error too. Eventually it did show a new quest was assigned. When I opened the quest screen then I was prompted with this bugged screen. The new quest assigned itself to the 3rd slot and not to the open 2nd slot.

I closed my game and started it up again. It took really long to load up, and once it did the problem remained. I did continue walking with that friend once he was done where we were standing. One of the Pokéstops we visited then eventually showed a message that I got a new quest. But I couldn't see my quests in the menu, my Buddy circle was empty and I couldn't attempt catching Pokémon. We walked back to the city center and got there a bit after the event ended. I talked with him for a bit and then decided to go home as my game just didn't want to work anymore.
Later when it was almost time to take over the Houten Schip Gym with a few of my team I turned the game back on. This time it properly loaded. The distance I walked did also properly count so my eggs started hatching as soon as the game was on. Finishing both of those quests to Hatch 1 Egg. Turns out the other quest I managed to still get within the time was Make 10 Great Throws. So I finished that one on the way and after taking over the Gym.
These are all the Feebas I got from the quests today. Those with the blue background that is, so not the last two.

Seems like I managed to catch 11 Feebas. Unfortunately no Shiny and no 100% either. There is still a quest with Feebas as a spawn reward in the regular quest pool. So I might still come across one! :D
How did your event with Feebas quests go? Managed to get a Shiny?

Sorry to hear about the buggy game issues. I enjoyed this event more than I expected to, since it was only research quests I wasn't sure there would be enough interesting stuff going on. But on the route I walked the distance between pokestops worked out so that I was usually able to finish one of my three quests just as I was getting to the next stop to get a new one, so I always felt like I was accomplishing something. I managed to get two shinies, and two quests that are still in-progress. I seriously depleted my item supply getting all those nice and great throws, though.
Really nice to usually be able to finish one of the quests when you get to the next one. That's really convenient! We sometimes had to hang out around a few stops for a while to finish our quests before we could get all the quests there.
Oh nice, congratulations! Then you have one to possibly keep as Feebas and one to evolve into Milotic! :D
Yeah I depleted a lot of my Pokéballs with those throws too, oddly enough my bag is still quite full. I must've gotten a lot of berries then that I didn't use.
