We never know if it is real or not. The only person who knows the realness is the person with the "Smile." As simple as the word is, it steals and kills which is opposite of what it truly stands for. I really don't know how some people do it. Smiling at someone they don't like or detest the person's actions or the person had hurt them.
I know some people do this; for the media, to look good in the presence of people and for other reasons known to them still, I find it hard to understand how that little curve of the lips with a happy face can be faked when you have been hurt by that person. I can't even try it because my face will give it all out.
If I don't like something, my face says it all. It mirrors how I feel that I do it subconsciously. I won't act or pretend I am okay with what you did when it doesn't sit well with me. I have seen movies even in reality. Let's take politicians, for example. How they smile while plotting something bad in their opponents back. It is very sick, and people like that make it hard to know when a smile far away is real or not.
That's why when I went through Paramahansa Yogananda quote, I couldn't help but feel this sort of sadness in me how our world now has drastically changed.
How many people have to smile in the presence of their tormentors. I can't and refuse to live like that. Do you know how many emotions you must have killed in yourself to be able to give that smile and open your teeth for the camera even when your husband/wife beating you that night is inevitable.
It is a sickness that shouldn't be let into our hearts because at the end of the day, its consequences are always lethal. You end up being a psychopath, think you are the problem and commit suicide or even kill the tormentor. Another way is growing up with such a memory that it becomes a habit.
The smile I know is just real. The one I give out is genuine. It is exactly how I feel and isn't sugar-coated or made to act in front of people. Just as Paramahansa Yogananda as said;
That is how a smile is meant to be. It is meant to be healing. A way to calm someone, to show your true emotions to someone close or a stranger. It is meant to be filled with trust and not something tragic or psychopathic. It is not meant to bring fear to people who know you truly. It is meant to make them safe knowing you are there.
A lot of people have lost their smile, their true selves, and others, sadly dead. Speak up if you are not okay. Don't smile while you are bleeding terribly inside. Don't turn off your emotions to a life your older self won't be able to reminisce on and smile truly.
Don't give yourself such life. Truly, I am not in your shoes currently and have no idea what you are going through or the fight in you. I know life isn't pretty. I have been served several times by it and still getting served, but I will never smile when I am hurt, bleeding, or at death's door.
Despite not having a lot of friends, I still know people I have stayed away from even close families when I know my smile is at stake. I know it is not easy, especially when you are currently living such a life. Don't procrastinate telling yourself you still have time. Take a step now. Pray, speak up, and act. Make sure you act. Don't lose your true smile, and here's music for you.
