Thank you?
I have been seeing a lot of post and reading a lot of comments about engagement and about passive income, and about the price of steem and about voting, and about vote bots, and curation trails. We see a lot of people talk bad about the vote bots, I myself do not like them, but I do understand that they do serve a purpose for various reasons for various people. If someone wants to buy, sell or rent votes, it really is their choice, and that has been talked about until everyone is blue in the face.

Passive spamming:
Hello @bashadow, thank you for sharing this creative work! We just stopped by to say that you've been upvoted by the @------------. The ------- ------ is all about art on the blockchain and learning from creatives like you. Looking forward to crossing paths again soon. Steem on!
So they upvoted my post, spam is spam. Do I go to their post and say I have upvoted them here is my page. Does the Reputation level of 70+ mean it is not spam? How is it any different than a new user reputation level 25 saying I upvoted you would you look at my page? Spam is Spam.
But they not only gave you a vote a lot of other votes came in with their vote, (a trail). Okay lets take a look at that:
Just look at those percentages!!!
Four people in the 50 Reputation level, the rest all 60 or 70 reputation.
Just look at those vote values!!!! $0.004
I feel just so god damned blessed that that spammer had a bunch of other people following on in his wake of spam. I am so enriched feeling from them. They must be good steemians just look at their reputations. Sorry spam is spam, and I don't care how many support it it is wrong.
Now I want to show you people that care for Steemit, that do not spam and are actually supporting each other and steemit. I am honestly very blessed to have the support of these people. Their names have not been blanked out like the above. They have not spammed my post, Some of them actually comment on my post on occasion.
You have seen what is wrong with steemit above, Now here is what is right with steemit:
Just LOOK AT THAT not one person in the 50 Reputation level or above.
Just look at those percentages!!!
Just look at those vote values!!!! $0.014
I know what you are thinking, not even a dust level vote from all those users trying to do the right thing. The point is they are at least trying and being honest with themselves. I hope I have never given a total $0.000 vote to anyone. How is that even possible.
So if you are on a vote/curation trail somewhere, you may want to see what it is you are following. A lot of people bitch about the vote bots supporting spam and bad content, how is it any different than a vote/curation trail doing the same thing. People talk about community circle vote jerks, how is a vote/curation trail any different. At least mutual voters know what they each are posting and what they are voting on.
You have the right to vote, not vote, buy a vote, sell a vote, it is your vote, remember that. IT IS YOUR VOTE! Also remember that anyone can see how you used your vote, or allowed it to be used.
I do not Rant often, but well I don't like Spam, and I especially do not like glad handing spam, of look what I did for you or will do for you. If you want to pat yourself on the back do it on someone else's post not mine.

Nice rant @bashadow!! I don't often 'hear' you all riled up like this ;)
So, a couple things, but I'm going bullet style for you here :
The micro votes from very large accounts may count for something, but 14 votes added up to $0.004. While 15 votes from redfish (yes sliderless) added up to $0.014. I know a lot of it is out of necessity for the redfish, but for me this was an eye opener. I need to be much more careful on my voting during these depressed price times, especially when it comes to comment votes verse content votes. Content I can vote at lower levels, a penny vote is fine on a piece of content that will pay out. But my comment votes, when left I need to work on getting back to a two cent above dust threshold.
So my voting numbers will likely continue downward, but I just have to look at it as if I am a fat redfish with limited a number of votes.
When you put it like that @bashadow, it makes perfect sense!
Lately I've been unable to upvote comments, even on my own posts, because I simply do not have the power to do it. So what I've been doing instead is replying to a comment, then making my way to that person's post to upvote it instead. I feel badly about it, but at least that way I know they're getting the vote and it's not being thrown away in the dust bin.
"So my voting numbers will likely continue downward, but I just have to look at it as if I am a fat redfish with limited a number of votes."
Ditto! :)
I think a lot of people are doing just that, going over to vote a piece of content. Comments generally only have the one person voting, If I can manage a two cent vote I will, but like many I have backed off on comment votes, and moved more to content vote.
The old saying, the richer you are the cheaper. Lot of rich Steemians spread their steem out thin. They may cover a lot of people but no one benefits.
They think they are doing a person a favor, they are not, at least I do not see it as a favor, more as a political statement, "See me support you", "Look at how many people I vote for", "I am just so damned cool I can cast a 1% vote". It all adds up to the same thing. Nothing.
