Introduction

My friend and I keep losing records of how we spend our money and this is quite bad. I was once asked to account for some money which was giving to me to buy foodstuffs and I did account for it but couldn't account for all. With this piggybudget app, I can give a good account for every money I receive and spend.

What is Piggybudget?

source

Piggybudget is a free and open-source android application that helps me to easily track my expenses for free. It is a very simple to use accepts a lot of currencies. About one month ago, a new version (v2.5) was launched with 3 new features; cleanup for cluttered monthly expense table, add numbers in pie chart, remove spurious scrolling down in stats view. With Piggybudget, You can select any one of 13 categories when adding income, you can specify a daily or monthly amount that will be added to your account automatically, you can select any currency, statistics about how you spend your money are provided. There’s a history page for viewing your expenses one by one. You can also edit and delete them there.

You can download the Piggybudget app Here on F-Droid

How I got to know of Piggybudget

I saw someone make a contribution post about Piggybudget and I knew the app would be an amazing one. I tried searching for it on Google but had issues with the provided search results. I finally found my way through on F-Droid as I successfully downloaded and installed the application on my Android device.

My experience with Piggybudget

After I had installed the application, I launched it. I was then at the home page which looked like this.

I then started using the app by adding an income of 200€. I observed that it may be a bit confusing as Euro is not my currency and decided to change it to my preferred currency (Naira). I went to the settings to set this up and while I was doing that, I figured out that there were about 117 currencies listed. I set my income type to monthly and went back to the home page which then looked like this.

I added more income and began making expenses by clicking on the 'Add expense' button. When adding an income or expense, I was asked to choose an icon which had to do with the income/expense I was about to add.

After adding my expenses, I swiped my screen to the left and got to the history page. Here, I saw all my transactions listed in order. It showed me that from the 20,000 naira I had, I made expenses on food, calls, house rent, clothes, and transportation.

I also went to the statistics page by swiping to the left again. On the statistics page, I saw a pie chart that simply explained my expenses in an easy looking diagram.

How to get started with Piggybudget app

Download and install the latest version (v2.5) of the Piggybudget app.

  • Lauch the application
  • Go to settings and select your preferred currency and income type
  • Go back to the home page and start adding your incomes and your expenses.

Comparing Piggybudget with Money Manager ex (a similar app)

  • Piggybudget looks more modernized than Money Manager ex
  • Piggybudget is way more easier to use than Money Manager ex
  • Piggybudget has a more easy to understand chart than Money Manager ex.

Conclusion

With this Piggybudget application, there's no way I will have issues accounting for my money (or any other) as it gives accurate results and provides me with a history page.

Hi, and thank you for the contribution. However, I have a few issues with the post.

First, the post is brief, and I can't find any unique information. The content is about basic information on how to use the app, with some primary features. Also, the post does not hold a reasonable amount of your experience. I'd suggest you make your next post more editorial, unique and extensive, with valuable information.

Also, there are many proofreading issues. I'd suggest a thorough check of your future contributions. Use Grammar checkers, and give more time to proofread your texts.

Thank you!
