Hellow Steemit Fellows😄
something that you can buy in Kolombo Market
Monday, September 3rd, 2018.
It was a lovely day, we have done 90% of our mission in Jogja. Time to find some unusual things for the shop and customer's order. So, after packing our bags and order an online driver to take us to get our video files at Banguntapan, paid for the services and then enjoy our last 5 hours in Jogja.
Lucky that we met another friendly driver who really understand the traffic in Jogja on Monday. He made a prediction of time we need to find all things and where. So following his suggestion, we went to Kolombo Market at the North of Jogja, we started from the South Ring Road where the Bus Pool is.
not a crowded market but we found what we need
My hubby needs to buy some packs of local cigarettes for Oom Loyke, our regular night customer. We found the shop that he mentioned before easily, a busy shop and we need more than 15 minutes to get our things packed, so we took a short tour inside the market. Narrow alleys and not many sellers, but I found fried shallots with cheap price and palm sugar. We're thinking about buying "anglo" or clay stove but decided to forget about it after a short discussion on packaging. So, we picked up our cigarettes packs and left Colombo Market.
* and I met an Achenese who sells fresh grapes to support his college's tuition and livelihood, aaah I forgot to ask his name*
If you remember my last week post about food, you know how I amazed by "wedang uwuh", so I try to find the ready to use wedang uwuh packs, one of the seller who is selling the fried shallot and palm sugar, told me that We can find it at KM 8, in front of the Electricity plantation office in a car. So off we go!
* I tried to negotiate the price but the seller said I need to buy 32 packs than she would discount 1k/pack, so I took 5 small packs*
Next mission is to find a local ground coffee, so the driver took us to Bringhardjo Market, the most old and popular traditional market in Jogja. Here is some snaps I took from the Market.
Bringhardjo is not the only market along the street, you can find other market like flea market near the mosque, Batik market and modern market like Progo Shop next to Bringhardjo
Our mission was to find local ground coffee, but something distracted us as usual😂 we both love conventional unique things, tea set made of clay.
quality check, 80k IDR equal to 5 Steem for 2 sets
After 15 minutes of searching around the blocks, we finally found the ground coffee 😅 you need to ask whether they had ground coffee or not, that's what make us spend more time to find it. Aahh what a lucky day😄 I found another packs of wedang uwuh and wedang secang with lower price, only 15k per packs (10 small packs). I passed by the yellow sugar cube seller, haven't thought about buying it at that time and I regreted it now😢.
We didn't explore the whole area of the market due to the time, our bus will depart on 15.00, we haven't had our lunch yet. So.. after waiting for few minutes, the seller packed our things and then an old lady came to helps us taking the things to our car.
it is not heavy but I feel sorry for her because she had to work so hard to earns for living and many women like her around the market😔
The parking lot only a hundred meter from the market, right in front of the art and culture building. We were so hungry and we need to recharge our body too. So, the driver took us to a place where we can eat something and don't have to sit on the floor😊.
meat soup with rice, delicious and a perfect portion for me
Mission accomplished 😉 time to go home and here is another snaps of the market for you.
I really enjoy my adventure at the market anyway, it's one of my hobby, strolling around the alleys just for sightseeing😁
That's all the stories of 3 and a half days in Yogyakarta. I wish that I could come back later to continued our adventure to explore more spesific and unique sides of The Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Thanks for stopping by and following my trip to Jogja with my beloved one through Steemit😃 💐
my favourite jug, let's go home!

Wwaaahhh... padahal iseng aja tadi pake tagar nusantara 😂 ehhh dikunjungin😉 terima kasih.
Wow great finds! Thats something i love to do as well. We also like to go yard sales and thrifting 💛 never know what you will find..
Hello @aloha-creations 😉 tell me about the yard sales😊 never have one in my place. Strolling amongs the buyers and consumers, watching the transaction or just admiring hard working people drain their sweat and changing jokes with each others despite the economic situation, just love it so much 😊
But.. I don't really enjoy the shopping mall except for its a common place to meet your busy friends😁
At shopping malls you find things that are popular, rarely things that are unique, and it is the unique things I like best!
Here we have yard sales also called garage sales and they are fun to visit. It is usually household items, often baby clothes, things people no longer want in their house or garage. They put up signs on the street to show where the sale is.
When you go by you can see their yard is full of various things - furniture, exercise equipment, dishes, maybe a bird cage? Sometimes two neighbors will sell on the same day, making more attention and more things to look at. The street will have many cars and people looking. Usually things are very inexpensive and you can sometimes bargain for an even lower price. But pay in cash only.
Usually what I see are things I don't want in my house either! But sometimes there are treasures!
Where I live they only allow these sales 4 times a year, on only certain days! Other cities don't have that rule.
A fascinating shopping trip! Such different merchandise offered than what is available here. I love those tea sets!
Yes @melinda010100 😉 a traditional market anywhere in Asia offering different merchandises from Europe, America and Australia, but almost has a similar things with Africa😊 heeeyy.. you can have a tea time with those tea set when you stop by at my shop ... I'll be glad to serve your best tea I got from the market too.
Thank you🌹
Wouldn't that be fun? I would love to come see your shop and have tea with you!
You bet it would 😉 you can meet my regular customers too and talking about our neighbourhood and complicated topics such as politics and steemit too 😅 anyway @melinda010100, have you ever been in Indonesia?
That would be so much fun! I have never been to Indonesia and traveling has become much too difficult for me to be able to do that as I get older. But I can always imagine how much fun it would be!
That's okay @malinda010100, I haven't travelled to orher countries yet, but I love that I can show you how beauty and rich with many stories my country through steemit. Well... people saud that reading will briaden your knowledge and travelling will broaden your view... we can choose one of that and get mire satisfaction to enjoy it, what do you think?
I hope you do get to travel someday. I have traveled quite a bit I've been to Taiwan, many countries in Europe including quite a few trips to France, I've been to Central America, Russia andCanada and all over the United States. I've been in most States. I feel like when I'm reading some of the posts like the ones you do here on esteem, I know what it must feel like to be there. Since I can no longer travel, seeing all the photos and learning about new places makes me happy!
Wow! Seems really good the pictures of your shopping @cicisaja. Satisfaction of mind never comes when we visit new place and want to buy them all. At least in my case sometimes.
Nice couple both of you ! Mashallah
Alhamdulillah, lucky me because I'mnot someone who wants to buy anythibg to satisfied my mind 😂 but I'm who would bought anything to please the sellers and producers 😔 and it's something that I wouldn't share how it turns when we bought low quality products with high prices, most of the time😂
I'd love to visit any market just to enjoy the crowd and atmosphere, but not everyday off course, once a month or every 3 months is quite interesting. Thank you @sherbanu for your lovely comments, hope that you anf your family always happy in prosperity too.
you are hiding the best posts from me and #ccc ...
😂😂😂 no I am not, I just being lazy to copy paste the creed😊 since I use only eSteem app and I forgot to set a draft for it
You can get the code ->
Please read A Simplified Guide and Update to #ccc carefully and acknowledge with your comment or question there.
Thank you!
I'll upvote your post now, but, please stop hiding ...
What a wonderful post! You are such a good tour guide! I would need an army of people to carry everything I would want to buy and a bus to take it home with me. Ah, I am only dreaming!
And - I am hungry for what you had for lunch!
Isn't it already midnight at your place? It's a clear meat soup and never had any with rice inside before, I thought it won't meat my appetite but I like it😉
Well... if you go to a place that you're not sure you could coming back, I think I will need an army of people to carry it home too😁 but I always had a friends somewhere who are willing to buy it for me and send me anything I need later😆 beside the tight budget policy that I said to myself😔
Thank you @donna-metcalfe, you know what.. I keep thinking about you while create a posting with "aaahh.. donna should read this, I need to tell her" 😂
Yes it was nearly midnight here. But I still got hungry for that soup!
I am happy and feel most honored to know you think about me when you are writing! And you are right, I look forward to reading whatever you write about.
I think about you and talk about you here too! Just this morning I was telling my husband about your shopping trip, how your markets are so different than ours, and about the ladies who carry your shopping to your car. He said what hard work that must be for those ladies and he felt sorry for them to have to do that work. Different than here where if someone said they would carry your things you would worry that they would run off with them!
Oh, you know I read somewhere that if you are writing something and you think of a certain person that you are writing to, instead of a general 'audience' it makes a better story! A more personal story, so that everyone who reads it feels that you are writing just to them too! So you have chosen a very good approach!
