Howdy, How are you all?
Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands post. As Usually I always write a post about Splinterlands during weekend, It is one of the best Blockchain gaming in the world. Debatable because everyone will say their favorite game is the best one, but overall I believe Splinterlands is one of the best Play to Earn Game in the world.
About today post here, I want to share one of my SPlinterlands battle here, and I had a hard time deciding which one of them, and what title should I pick. I have made my mind which battle, but I am confused again which title I will emphasize more.
The first Idea I want to say about building up a super strong card using Martyr can go wrong. However after some minutes writing the battle report, I started to think this idea was not good or maybe was not proper. I feel like talking my opponent made a mistake is not the right one to write this post.
So I choose the second one, it is about back up meta. I am talking about when we build up our line up, most of the time the more laser focus our formation is, the better and stronger our team will be. However there are some cases it does not work like that.
So let's check out battle below, so you can get some picture what I have been talking about....
HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE
Ok this is the battle I pick for today topic. This battle only has one ruleset, which is Standard. So you might say this is the very basic battle we can get in Splinterlands
Only two element that were available in this battle, Water Element or Dragon. This should be a no brainer, right? We should go with the dragons, for the sake of more units for selection. However I had one big problem that time, which was the depleted cards
I just tried Survival mode before the rank battle, and my of my good cards got depleted and could not be used for some time. This forced me to use a pure water element cards, which hopefully could bring me a victory here.
So here was the point I made during the line up selection:
- I lost some of my cards due to Survival Mode. So rather than laser focus on cetain meta, I would go more on generic build up but with some back up meta / strategy in it.
- Merdaali Guardian was gone, so I need to set some tanks a head to cover the absence of that super support unit. Nerrisa Tridawn and Djinn Oshannus were the second and the third of my back up main tank.
- In case my opponent predicted my move and aimed my backline, I put Angelic Mandarin there in hope to counter that meta.
- I made some combination of Range - Melee - Magic damage, regarding I did not have full set of units, so I might have to prepare for the unwanted type of defense. Prior I wanted to go with full melee units.
So let's see how this battle will proceed
- The battle started with both side buffing their team and debuffing their opponent. I was very pleased with my line up regarding if I chose the prior approach, which was going full with melee, I might be swept out by that Commander Slade. That one would be a huge menace.
- They came with 2 range damage and 6 magic damage. It's just 8 damage per round, however when the Commander Slade came forward, this number could be doubled.
- My team had 8 melee damage, 4 range damage and 5 magic damage. It's a combined 17 damage per round.
- Their line up was very strong, they had 3 legendary cards and level-wise they were better.
- Nothing much changed in round one, except I killed their martyr three times, because they had two units with resurrect abilities. Round 2 was the point where everything started. I managed to get the martyr buff, and this was a game on for me
- This was the one that I was worry about, a speed 10 with dodge ability. Literally my Range and Melee Units would not be able to hit this dude. Beside his fast dodgy speed, his 8 melee damage was kind of cheat LoL. Luckily I had Djinn Oshannus and Nerissa Tridawn to kill him, and these two were my backup meta.
- I lost my Commander Slade in the second round, it was a big problem for me. At his side, he lost River Hellondale. Atleast I stopped his Inspire Ability although reducing 8 melee damage to 7 melee damage was not a big issue here.
- Finally my team could take down their Commander Slade. I had Swamp Spitter behind that kept repairing Djinn Oshannus armor, and this was the sole reason their Commmander Slade could not take down any unit here. Melee biggest weakness, armor!
- They lost their Oshuur Constantia in the fourth round. This made their fifth round started in the worst condition and soon after the start, their Daarg Deathblast got killed right away.
- Round 6 was the last round, Good Game
so what do we get from this battle?
I think they do not have a bad meta, they came with a super buffed Commander Slade which could easily wipe my team out if I did not have Djinn Oshannus and Nerissa Tridawn in my line up. My Swamp Spitter proved himself as a core unit by repairing some armor that prevented their Commander Slade from killing my units.
Did My Tactic Work?
Actually my main tactics did not work well. I had angelic mandarin and literally he just clown in this battle, very mismatch against Commander Slade. My Commander Slade died uselessly, he did not contribue anything worthy in this battle.
So if my main tactic did not work, why did I win this battle? because I have a backup plan, which was setting up my Secondary and Third tanks as mages, and they ended up capable shutting down their Commnader Slade.
So what do you think about this one, do you think having a backup meta is good, or this just a bullshit pure luck situation? Please leave your comment and opinion below. That's all for today post, and Thanks for coming and let's meet in Splinterlands Battles!!
