Greetings Fellow Splinterlands Players. Welcome to my weekly Splinterlands post, as usual I always write about Splinterlands during Weekends.
Today I will share you a simple topic, it is about one of Rebellion Edition unit, it is the Sultry Barmaid. I have started buying new cards, the Rebellion edition, as preparation for later this year when we will no longer able to play in Modern Format using Chaos Legion. Before it literally happens, let say I DCA-ing Splinterlands card from now LoL
Sulty Barmaid is a common card of water element, and I do not see this as something that powerful such as Deeplurker from Chaos Legion. The price is one of the cheapest, so I believe it is legit to say this card is so so or weak.
But it does not mean a weak card can not do something. In fact I bought this card earlier not because of being cheapest. I see strong similarity with one of the card I like from Rift Watchers edition, the runeslinger.
I guess it is a no brainer to see both are very much similar. Same mana cap, same type: range unit, same speed, same range damage and similar health point. Both are the same Stun ability holder, and that is exactly why I like this card.
Stun is not something that amazing, because it works based on RNG. Sometime it is F-ing you up by not working at all, and sometime it is like an OVERPOWERED ability because it turns on every attacks. However this is good for casual player like me.
I do not purchase nor rent the strongest cards at the highest level. I get cards, some from rental market, which I frequently use, and at the best value which mean it won't be at the max level. People like me just love to play Splinterlands, we are not a heavy investor.
So this card is like a secret weapon that we can use to turn the table or make a recovery plan whenever we meet a stronger opponents. Stun works well when it applies to big and strong units, and we often meet stronger opponents rather than weaker or equal one. However I won't deny that sometime it becomes a cringe, just not working at all.
Ok let's check our battle now
HIGHLIGHTED BATTLE
This is the battle I pick for today. Both of us went with Water Element, and in general we both used same tactic. We heavily relied on Deeplurker and use a bait (Fiend) for buying time against it.
So overall in this battle we only see whether this Sultry Barmaid is actually good or she is just another new clown in our selection.
- The battle started with both side buffing their team and debuffing their opponent. Supply runner buffed their speed, which made them superior in term of speed contest. I should have lost this battle due to it, but I had ambush and Stun from Sultry Barmaid.
- They came with 7 Melee damage and 5 range damage, which made a combined 12 damage per round.
- My team had 6 Melee damage and 5 range damage, so in total they became 11 damage per round, 1 point lower than them
- This is a funny battle, we had armored up but none of us willing to employ a mage in our line up.
- Round one was pretty much dull, the armor negated some of the attacks which made round 2 started with same condition as the round 1, 6 vs 6.
- However in this round, they Diemonshark could not move due to stun effect.
- We both lost our bait in the second round, we got the same condition because like I have said above, both of us used same tactic which was heavily relied on deeplurker.
- Their Diemonshark got stunned again, making it useless for this round again
- 4 vs 4 now, and guess what? Their Diemonshark was still in stunned condition. My Sultry Barmaid was on fire in this battle.
- We were on round 5 here and it was equal 3 vs 3, a deeplurker on tank position and 2 range units behind it. I believed my team was on the better side, regarding we had more abilities on this point rather than our opponet.
- This was not the last round, however I cut it here. I saw no opportunity for them to come back. They could no longer kill any of my units and it was only a matter of time before I won.
The battle was ended a couple round later, but I think that is not important anymore because my team has sealed it off on round 6. In general we were equal, none of us came with fastastic line up or a specific counter towards the opponent.
Neither of Our line up was great, it was so decent that the battle must be settled by non core units, the range one. I think this battle was about Supply runner and Kulu Swim hunter vs Sultry Barmaid and Swamp Bitter, and in this term... Sultry Barmaid made a big difference by locking down Deep lurker for 3 rounds.
If I replaced Sultry Barmaid with others, let say kulu swimhunter, I should have lost this battle. Same goes for other units as this Barmaid replacement. Things would be very different if I faced a death unit which should be a more magic oriented team.
In term of having a magic focused team, I believe my team would be better regarding I had Legionnaire Alvar as my tank. But back to the Sultry Barmaid, I think in this battle she is the MVP. What do you think? Leave a comment below if you have different opinions.
