Camping with friends.

in #mountain6 years ago

This time I camped for the first time in my life. Accompanied by my friends and organizing members of Duolingo Caracas we had a camping day entirely in English, which made the experience much better.

Around 7 am we arrived at the entrance of the mountain in Altamira, but when being checked by the park rangers we were forbidden to enter until we got rid of some things that they considered were not suitable for our stay in the mountains (Knives, Swiss Army Knives , lighters), so we had to contact a close friend who went to pick up these things so that later we could start our climb.

We started to climb the mountain at about 9 am, despite the bad time we had to spend, we continued with great enthusiasm. At a good pace and with the desire to arrive early to the place where later we would camp, we went up while we conversed in English, which for the rest of the people who traveled the mountain was something unusual and for us something fun.

When we arrived at the long-awaited Lagunazo, the cold and the fog enveloped us, a little dew also fell and the weather warned us that it was going to rain, so we had to find a place to set up the tents as quickly as possible. After we found it, we left all the bags aside and proceeded to put together the first tent, but at the end of that action, the first drops of rain fell on us.

We started to build the second tent and in turn we put all the bags to the first tent to protect them from the rain. Unfortunately we could only build 2 out of 3, since the rain settled on us without letting us finish building the tents, so we had to enter them and wait for them to completely dry up.

While the rain stopped, we took advantage of that time to reorganize and accommodate everything, several of us who had wetted ourselves with the rain changed clothes while the others put everything in order. The rain took more than two hours to finish, we were imprisoned in those tents until the sun completely disappeared and it became dark.

Around 10 pm, we proceeded to have dinner and talk for a while; in the background you could hear other groups of campers and from what I could see, each group was in their own, although if they socialized among themselves, none of them messed with the other, that was one of my main fears before deciding to camp there. When it was 12 am we decided to sleep and not to lose the habit, I wrote a couple of lines in the notebook of my cell phone.

The next morning I woke up at 5 am with much desire to see the sunrise, I waited very anxious and had breakfast while this happened, I left early to walk and admire the great view I had towards the beaches of Vargas state and on the other side the beautiful Caracas, I took the opportunity to take and take a couple of photos while the sky was clear. Then the clouds came back and I had no choice but to continue capturing moments with the camera.

It was a very pleasant experience accompanied by good friends, without a doubt something I would like to do every week. When we left there I did it with a big smile, I had a lot of fun doing new things and interacting with strangers at the top of the mountain.
