This weekend was special, as we went with a couple of friends to Mangue Seco, which is in the state of Bahia and borders the state of Sergipe. To get there, you have to arrive at Povoado Pontal and take a boat across to Mangue Seco. This was the third time we've been there and, honestly, it's the best beach in the region between Sergipe and Bahia, as it's a nice, secluded place to spend a weekend.
On Saturday, we woke up early and left in the direction of Povoado Pontal, where we parked the car. The parking lot is very cheap, with a daily fee of 15 BRL ($2.50). The boat trip depends on the tide and costs 6 BRL per person (approximately $1). However, on this day, we were lucky enough to cross by speedboat and pay the same price as the boat, as the owner of the speedboat was going to the same destination to pick up some clients. We reached our destination in about 10 minutes and, in the middle of the crossing, you can see turtles, manatees and other marine animals. On this crossing, we saw a turtle, but we didn't manage to capture the moment.
When we arrived in Mangue Seco, there was a waterfront with residential houses, shops and inns. There, we took a few photos and passed a few shops to see the local handicrafts. Walking a little further, we met the Burgues, who took us to Mangue Seco beach, where we spent the rest of the day bathing in the sea and eating the local food, such as shrimp and aratu moqueca.
Mangue Seco is a famous destination because it was chosen as the setting for the telenovela Tieta, shown by Rede Globo in 1989 (I wasn't even born then! 😅). Back then, with no internet and television dominating people's lives, soap operas were the main entertainment for Brazilian families. You can still see many of Tieta's legacies in Mangue Seco.
It was a very fruitful and enjoyable weekend. Sometimes you need to get out of your routine and enjoy the best moments of your life, traveling and with wonderful people.

Esse final de semana foi especial, pois saímos com um casal de amigos com destino a Mangue Seco, que fica no estado da Bahia e faz divisa com o estado de Sergipe. Para chegarmos lá, é preciso chegar no Povoado Pontal e atravessar de barco para Mangue Seco. Essa foi a terceira vez que fomos a esse local e, sinceramente, é a melhor praia da região entre Sergipe e Bahia, pois é um lugar gostoso e reservado para passar um final de semana.
No sábado, acordamos cedo e saímos em direção ao Povoado Pontal, onde deixamos o carro estacionado. O estacionamento é bem barato, pois cobra-se o valor de 15 BRL ($2,50) pela diária. A travessia de barco depende da maré e custa 6 BRL por pessoa (aproximadamente $1). Porém, nesse dia, tivemos a sorte de atravessar de lancha e pagar o mesmo valor do barco, pois o dono da lancha ia para o mesmo destino pegar alguns clientes. Em cerca de 10 minutos chegamos ao nosso destino e, no meio da travessia, é possível ver tartarugas, peixes-bois, entre outros animais marinhos. Nessa travessia, avistamos uma tartaruga, mas não conseguimos registrar o momento.
Ao chegar em Mangue Seco, há uma orla com casas residenciais, comércios e pousadas. Lá, tiramos algumas fotos e passamos por algumas lojinhas para ver os artesanatos locais. Caminhando um pouco mais, fomos ao encontro dos Burgues, que nos levaram para a praia de Mangue Seco, onde passamos o resto do dia tomando banho de mar e comendo a comida local, como moqueca de camarão e de aratu.
Mangue Seco é um destino famoso, pois foi o local escolhido como cenário para a telenovela Tieta, exibida pela Rede Globo em 1989 (naquela época, eu nem havia nascido! 😅). Naquele tempo, sem internet e com a televisão dominando a vida da população, as novelas eram o maior entretenimento das famílias brasileiras. Ainda é possível ver muitas das heranças de Tieta em Mangue Seco.
Foi um final de semana bastante proveitoso e gostoso. Às vezes, é preciso sair um pouco da rotina e aproveitar os melhores momentos da vida, viajando e ao lado de pessoas maravilhosas.
