1 Samuel 16:11-23
Then [he] said to Jesse, Are all your sons here? [Jesse] said, There is yet the youngest; he is tending the sheep. Samuel said to Jesse, Send for him; for we will not sit down to eat until he is here.
Jesse sent and brought him. David had a healthy reddish complexion and beautiful eyes, and was fine-looking. The Lord said [to Samuel], Arise, anoint him; this is he.
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed David in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.
But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented and troubled him.
Saul's servants said to him, Behold, an evil spirit from God torments you.
Let our lord now command your servants here before you to find a man who plays skillfully on the lyre; and when the evil spirit from God is upon you, he will play it, and you will be well.
Saul told his servants, Find me a man who plays well and bring him to me.
One of the young men said, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who plays skillfully, a valiant man, a man of war, prudent in speech and eloquent, an attractive person; and the Lord is with him.
So Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.
And Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine, and a kid and sent them by David his son to Saul.
And David came to Saul and served him. Saul became very fond of him, and he became his armor-bearer.
Saul sent to Jesse, saying, Let David remain in my service, for he pleases me.
And when the evil spirit from God was upon Saul, David took a lyre and played it; so Saul was refreshed and became well, and the evil spirit left him.
There is something about being in the right place at the right time with the right people
Only favor can make that kind of a thing to happen for you.
One day if favor with God will give you what one hundred years if labour cannot give you. If you think your problem is that you don't know people, you need to think again! Who did David know?
His father did not even count him as a significant child! None if his seven brothers respected him! But the God of favour, the one who works all things after the counsel of his will, had crowned this little teenage boy with unusual favour.
One of Saul's servants was in the right place at the right time and he told Saul, i have seen a son of Jesse, the bethlehemite, who is skilful in playing, a mighty man of valour, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him.
That one recommendation changed David's destiny forever!
One day of favour produced one outstanding recommendation that changed this sherpherd boy into a palace staff. He became Saul's number one musician, comforter, demon- chaser and armour- bearer. This why you need to understand that
You don't need everyone to like you. Stop trying to make everyone like you. That is frustration upon frustration! Get only one person to like you, one right person and he will turn the tables around in your favour.
YOUR GREATNESS IS NOT EVEN DEPENDENT ON HOW WELL YOUR FAMILY LIKES YOU.
David was the most unliked and unwanted boy in the household if Jesse, yet he rose up into greatness because of God's favour. Consider these "J" boys- Joseph, Jabez and Jesus of Nazareth. These were men who could have been limited by family adversity and opposition but went on to achieve unprecedented levels of greatness.
Just hold on to God. He is your; Father, mother, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousin, nephew, niece and friend. He can show up for you when you don't have or know anyone. Know him more and more, he's your LIMIT- BREAKER. Look up to him alone, look up to him daily.
