Some of you may know that this weekend is taking place the European Parliament election. The election is being held between 23 and 26 May 2019, today is the last day. In my country today is the only day you can vote, other countries have already voted.
As a normal and responsible citizen, I went to vote as it's my right and responsibility as well. People had died so we can vote today and it must be taken seriously.
When I entered the polling center I saw people staying in line already. This wasn't good for me as I had to stay in line for like 20 minutes or so. On the other hand it was good news because it meant people care and are exercising their right. Most of them were students and that was causing the delay. This is not their place of residence and there's a special procedure that has to be followed when checking their identity and that takes time.
So we were staying in line, there were two student girls in front of me who after five minutes decided to leave. One said "the country does not deserve it, she's not staying in line". 😯
I was shocked, I won't deny it. Things are not going well in my country, which is one more reason to stay in line for 15 minutes and vote! That is the only way you can influence your and your country's future. Turning your back and refusing to vote means you let others decide for you.
I would love to see her face one day when she applies for a service and she's told "you don't deserve it".
It's time to grow up and be responsible, it's time to learn to do something instead of complaining. This passive mentality is not taking you anywhere.
