FungiFriday - Count the spots

amanita mushrooms spots pl 7.jpg

The lovely little Amanitas are just so irresistible! Large hats covered (most of the time) in spots are asking to be shot.
Multiple times!

On a good day, when the fall is still warm but also rainy enough, it is almost like some unwritten competition to find the biggest one. Or the one with the nicest spot placement.
You enter the forest, and you basically end up walking like a drunk person from one mushroom to another. There is no plan (I usually don't have any), no map - just from one little spot in the soil to another.
For hours :)

I am not sure what type of Amanita this is. Google shows me a few that look extremely alike to me, but I narrowed it down to two: pantherina and rubescens. Somehow, I think it's the first one, but I'm still not sure.

Either way. It is pretty :)

I am amazed every time I see mushrooms lifting all the damp and decomposing leaves and needles. Some emerge from thick soil, dense moss... It almost seems impossible that such a delicate structure can do that.

Most of the mushrooms, though toxic to humans, have been munched by my other little forest creatures.

This is how most of them grow. They push through the layers and layers of needles and sticks.
They are easy to spot from a distance as they are some of the largest ones, but there are plenty of tiny little ones growing among them too.

This one is very flirtatious :)

Bonus shot:
It is not all dark and brown in the woods. Most parts are covered in lush green moss and when you look down with all the little spots of light shining though it looks like a quiet fairyland.

Fantastic and spezial ❤👌 Beautiful colors!

Thank you :)

Mushrooms are so amazing and at the same time very fragile

Happy new year to you

They are indeed :)

Happy New Year!

Time spent in the woods is always centering yet invigorating. I share your love of that wonderland!

I just never get tired of it! :)

I agree, they are just too darn cute not to take tons of photos of them. The forest floor to me always looks like a fairyland, especially when you get down close with the camera. The little fairy spirits are always whispering thank you for your attention. ;-)

Yeaaa and we usually miss on all the pretty little things by looking up.
Have a nice Sunday!

These are actually so pretty to look at. Are the toxic to human shrooms not toxic to animals?
You know, last week or so, I saw some mushrooms and I immediately thought of your fungi Friday initiative. (Pls don't kick me. I'll show myself to the door hehehhe.)

Wave Media

They probably can digest the toxic ingredient better than humans and see no effect. Or they like to get high too :D Who knows.

Pls don't kick me.

Just this time... I swears :D
Grab a cup of coffee and make yourself at home.

Amanitas as many other things in nature are beautiful but deathly, although I'm not sure but I guess they are poisonous to humans too or are this the type of fungus that gets you on a trip? 😅 , very beautiful pictures close enough looks like they were just another tall three in the forest but in reality bee some of the smallest plant ✌️

I have no idea if it is deadly, or just trippy :p I will not test it :D

It has been a great day for searching for mushrooms, you have found some very beautiful ones, and very tempting for insects, what a shame they are toxic for people
Beautiful shots, thank you very much for showing us
Have a beautiful afternoon

Not everything has to be for people :) There are other creatures out there that have to eat too.
Thank you!

Amanitas is so irresistible... yeah! agreed.
When I was a kid I received a rubber mushroom among some gifts, it looked like this one. Seeing this one reminded me of that toy, it had the same colors and I remember vividly that every time I had it in front of me I wanted to chew it.
Since I see your mushroom publications I am understanding and admiring things I had never noticed before. And yes...it does look like fairyland.

We had Christmas tree glass ornaments shaped like the red Amanita. It was cute! But so fragile... every year there was less and less of them. I am not sure if we have any left right now.

Maybe you have at least one left and you can place it in the forest among the real ones... hahaha... a trick! 😝

You said it with a lot of nostalgia, hopefully some is preserved but it is hidden. 😇

Yeaaa... because I remember we had lots of them and they were cool :)
We do have a box like that with some very old glass ornaments. We hardly take it out cause we dont want to break more and we use the more normal stuff. I just dont remember seeing any mushroom left last time I looked.

Jummm... the collector is about to appear! at any moment she arrives: ajaaa... you have a collection of old ornaments! 🤣

hahahah
They are all at my mums house :D A small, damaged collection :p

Eat me eat me eat me. To think that there are always people who get fooled with this species.

haha I am sure they learn fast enough not to do it again :p

It's interesting to me how prevalent Amanita mushrooms are in pop culture/human psyche. For being so deadly, it has found a place in all kinds of places. Even the Super Mario Bros. mushroom is an Amanita. Maybe it's kind of like our relationship with snakes where there are so many deadly ones that they are kind of instinctively imprinted on our brain.

The red one is probably one of the most recognizable mushrooms out there. Besides the common white ones we find in supermarket.

It could be.... it an automatic reaction to danger.
Then again, if we have never seen a snake, never heard of one and no one has ever told us there is such a thing, would we still be scared of it when we saw one?

Hi dear friend. What kind of photos can a model share in this forum?

Anything related to mushroom topic :)
