Rainy day in Wroclaw

in Black And Whitelast year

Wroclaw rain bw 9.jpg

I had one day to waste in Wroclaw this year. I was hoping to get good weather and prepared myself with extra memory cards and batteries for my camera. The whole day of taking photos. Parks, streets, abandoned buildings, churches, old town scruffy streets...

One day.

And on that one day, the rain decided to show up. I still went for a walk, but the photos were not exactly what I wanted or the amount I was ready for.

The lens was getting some drops now and then that you can actually see on some of the photos as cloudy spots.

Later on, the rain got a bit heavier, so I just walked around.

The center is a definite must-see. I know it well, but I still like to check from time to time to see what has changed. And it does change. Once favorite shops or restaurants are replaced with others, renovated facades or streets

The things that do not change are the churches, though. And there are a lot of them! Some standing proud with large spaces around them, others tucked between buildings.

Lots of narrow streets, small cafes, food places, tiny art galleries, and flowers in the windows :)

And now that I look, those narrow streets are so adorable on rainy days (on sunny days too, but they are obviously more busy). With fewer people and a shiny pavement full of puddles. No cars are allowed there, so it's quieter and less busy than normally.

Plaque indicating the granting of the coat of arms in 1530.
Source and more info about it.

I found it on the pavement in front of one of the churches. I just can't remember which one now. :p

Very interesting old city with quaint architecture.

Thanks, it is a cool city!

The result still turns out amazing. It's amazing that the old plaque is still there since it is quite hard to find the remnant of the old kingdom in my country in the same time of the plaque.

I doubt it is this old. It's just to commemorate the date I think :)

What a beautiful place, I love its cobblestone streets and the architecture of the period buildings. The churches preserve that special architecture.
What a shame it rained dear friend @ewkaw, even so, you have taken really beautiful shots
Have a happy start to the week

The whole center is very charming like that. And because of that there is usually lots of tourists. At least the rain scared some off ;)

It's incredible, I always miss your posts in black and white, I saw in the narrow alley there were a few people walking and you did well. The architecture of the building is very clear. Have a nice day my brother

Thanks! The narrow streets are nice indeed.

I totally agree with what you said, it is indeed very good hehehe

I just had an interesting trip to wikipedia through the link you provided. It would only give me the English version for a few seconds before it reverted back to German. But I get the gist - very cool how old some of these buildings are, and that they are still so wonderfully intact. It can be done.

I love you BnW photos, despite your disappointment with the weather. The cactus shot is fab.

Hahah the Wiki is in German actually. I had to google translate it. That's what I got when searching for the image :p

Thank you!

One day. And rain decides to show up exactly on that day. 😑

Though the shots you got are cool, and the cactus is cute 😇
And the plaque from the last photo, from 1530, though it looks so neat and in new condition :D

It was still cool, but...
Another time :D

I don't think it is from 1530, just commemorates it.

Greetings friend @ewkaw The photos are very beautiful. The contrast and sharpness are perfect. I love the Hurbin landscape, there are so many things to take photos of that you could take them for a lifetime. In addition, the more people took photos in the environment where they lived, the more they noticed certain details that they did not necessarily see before.

Thank you! And that is true. You can take a better look at things after you shoot them.

A very beautiful city. I'm sorry the rain prevented you. But the photos are beautiful despite the rain. And the churches are also very beautiful. I'm curious about your post on the sunny day.☔

Thank you! Only a heavy rain would stop me from shooting and its only because it could damage the camera.
First have to be there on the sunny day :p

Po lewej mój instytut. :) Same znajome kąty.

Ano... ja bliżej po lewej jadałam obiady :)

Indeed, food places change on a regular basis and the few places that don't are places of worship.

Black and white photos are always more chaotic than usual, even if you take them in sunny weather. On a rainy day, it's exactly how you want it :)

Imagine a church constantly changing the religions :D :D That would be interesting.

I find the BW calmer that colour ones. Less distraction on them.

Oh dear friend @ewkaw , that first photo deserves a bow, a volley of cannon fire I'd say!... An eloquent, precise angle of capture and a majestic sharpness, plus that vignetting that makes it a caress for the eye!... A round of applause for you!

Haha Thank you!! I really enjoy the vignette there too. I was trying it with and without it and decided to leave it. Glad you liked it :)

Applause for that choice!... It's a majestic photo!

Rainy days for photographic artwork (black and white) are spectacular!

I also especially like the photos of the churches when you add that kind of frame of leaves and trees.

Thank you!
Oh yea... it adds more interest to the photos and perspective. Plus I really like trees...

Amazing pictures! I really love the depth in the urban landscape. I agree with you, the narrow streets are the best in rainy days!

Thank you!
They just seem so moody then with all the people hiding under umbrellas or hoodies.

Cloudy and rainy days seems like a good match with monos.

Oh yes they are :)

The first time I visited Poland I went to Wroclaw and I loved it! Beautiful memories! And beautiful these photos

Thank you! I spent so many years there that it feels like my home :) Love it every time I am there.

What a beautiful town - the buildings and scenery looks great. Great photos in the rain. Still one for my wish list.

Hopefully one day you see it :)
