December is he LAST month of the year - and the last chance for a #gardenjournal entry! This month we're awarding a prize pool of 20 HIVE that will be distributed amongst the best entries. This challenge will run for TWO WEEKS and prizes will be awarded after 15th December! We're announcing this challenge a day early so you get a solid heads up.
A reminder that the community has clear rules of a 300 word minimum for posts. We favour longer than that but are also aware that high quality posts do not have to be essays.
Do try not to post multiple photos of the same plant unless you have a specific purpose such as a before and after shot.
Entries for this challenge should be in ENGLISH ONLY - please feel free to use a translator. Dual language posts should have ENGLISH FIRST followed by the translation AT THE END.
Even if you're not gardening at the moment, you can still join in. Here's a few ideas:
- Looking back at 2024, what was your favourite garden moment?
- Write three successes and three failures in your 2024 garden
- What's happening in your garden right now - even if it's blanketed in snow or a dustbowl, we're interested!
- Write a 'how to' post for your speciality garden area
- Visit a botanical garden and detail three plants you found interesting there.
- What are your garden plans for 2025?
- What's your favourite style of gardening and why?
- Visit a friends garden and interview them about their favourite aspects of gardening
- Write a story with a garden related theme
Prizes
The prizes will be given according to the quality of the post. We'll be looking for high quality photographs, engaging writing, and interesting angles. We'll also be awarding prizes for those who've been super consistant in the community.
Rules
- 300 word minimum, no AI or plagiarism
- No more than 5 photographs unless your extra photographs are in a collage.
- Please reference 'garden journal challenge' in your title
