Worship Over Worry: The Transformative Power of Music

in Hive Learners24 days ago

The most beautiful things in life are things that we feel and make a huge difference in us, not necessarily the things we can see, and music tops the list of these things, some would say music is spiritual, others, a soul to the food and doesn't even need permission to be felt, the more beautiful thing about music is that it doesn't discriminate, rather brings people together, the reason music icons like Micheal Jackson, even our very own Nigerian music artist Wizkid, are loved by people/fans all over the world.

I've had favourite songs my whole life, and the list keeps growing because the truth is that we can't get enough good music. My mood and place also tend to influence my favourite music at some point, not excluding the lyrics, vibes, and beats that follow. Also, there is a likelihood of an artist influencing my pick at that point, as I tend to be a die-hard fan when you become my favourite, and trust me, I can be very picky.

Have you ever listened to a song, maybe even an old one and it sort of brings back memories, either good or bad, like smell does, there is something magical about music connecting us with memories stored in our unconsciousness. At this point in my life, I find myself drifting more to finding myself spiritually, and getting closer to my creator, and this stage of my life was borne after facing and overcoming depressing situations, I remember listening to this song at the very core of disappointment and still felt hope, it's not even a new song, as I've heard this song often sang in my local church as a child, but never really paid any attention or likeness to it, worst still, I never really liked a song not sang in English. The title of the song is ''Osubare Mare, now remixed by Nigerian gospel singer Peterson Okopi, meaning 'This is your worship, it belongs to you', Imagine being faced with a difficult situation, yet my faith still strong, giving God the worship He deserves, because there is a reference in the bible that says we should give him thanks at all times, whether good or bad, it sort of affirms us that He is there watching all we go through, and there is probably a reason we got faced with a trial.

my mum would often say, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger, I'm always in awe of how God operates, it is beyond the logical understanding of man, so rather than kill myself with worrying over what I have no control over, I just let myself carried away listening to this song, especially when I'm listening through my headsets, it's not just by listening, but the calm it gives me, knowing I have someone watching over me, who deserve all my worship that is all I can do, and the place of worrying over my problems is not my duty, but He's to bear,Olorun to Lagbara, Osubare mare ooooeeeee!

If you ever find yourself in the same spot, because the challenges of life never end, just tune in and worship rather than worry.

Thank you for reading.

Worry can never change any situation...some music gives hope even in our hopelessness

I know this your favourite worship song and I love the lyrics when I translated it...we owe God all the thanks even in our dark moments

Exactly, worry changes nothing, rather makes it worse, and music sure gives hope during hard times.

Glad you know the doing as well. Thanks for this beautiful comment🤗

I'm not particularly religious, but even I have to admit that worship songs often have a very calm atmosphere about them that one can tap into.
Great post.

I don't really consider myself the religious type either but a believer and one thing is certain, worship music has its unique impact when we connect with it.

That's a good thing, not limiting ourselves when there is so much good music to explore

My dear, getting worried over things we can't even sort makes matters worst, music have a way it enters deep into our spirit to bring this kindness even when it's far away. You are not wrong to say it is spiritual and I too can't have enough of it.
