Outside the Ichan-Kala. Khiva.

Away from the tourist trail inside the walled Ichan-Kala, a chance to see the real people of the Khiva.

Modern Khiva is a relatively small town a population of around 90,000 people, it is surrounded by state cotton farms, which provides employment for the locals, that are not invested in tourism and hospitality .

In the heat of the mid day sun sat high in a cloudless blue sky, it seem like most folk were indoors, or in some cool shady spot. Of course if this was the cotton picking season, they would be in the fields as forced labour ( No it hasn't fully ended no matter what Govt. representatives spout).

Slightly overloaded, I guess it saves on delivery costs. I walked on.

Finding myself in a cul-de-sac I retraced by footsteps

Only to come across a couple of, we can mend it we can fix it, "Bob the Builder" types. Boss man didn't look to happy.

The local bottle bank seemed to be doing well

Outdoor, communal toilets, not all see the wealth of the white gold

Isn't it good to see youngsters out and about, not glued to tech.
Climbing trees the adventure of all boys of my generation too.
