Delicious tequeños

Hello steemians I hope you are very well, today I will share a typical meal of Venezuela, the history of this dish dates back to the 1960s, when the Báez family became known for preparing delicious cheese rolls, the family lived in a sector called los Teques, when they became popular and began to be distributed to other sectors, people began to call them "tequeños" because they came from teques, this food is very versatile since it can be prepared in different sizes depending on the occasion when they are prepared with a size smaller than a finger is used for parties and meetings, and when preparing larger ones are used for breakfast, then I leave the recipe I hope you like it.

Ingredients for the dough:

  • 500g of all-purpose wheat flour.
  • 150 ml of milk
  • 8g of instant yeast.
  • 100g of sugar
  • 80g of butter.
  • A pinch of salt.
  • 1 egg.
  • 500g semi-hard cheese
  • 5g of oregano.
  • 30g of sandwich.

Process

• Add 150 ml of milk in a container (preferably warm), in the same bowl add the yeast, a tablespoon of wheat flour and a tablespoon of sugar, mix well and let it sit until the mixture thickens and leaves a thick layer of foam.

• Then in a large bowl add the 500g of flour, sugar, egg, butter, salt and add the mixture we prepare with milk and yeast, join all the ingredients with our hands to create a compact and uniform club , then knead 5 minutes and in a bowl place the dough in the shape of a sphere, let it rest for about an hour or until it doubles its size

• While we wait for the dough to double its size we are preparing the filling, we cut the cheese and the sandwich into sticks, the length will depend on how big our tequeños want to be, for paspalos they are normally 4 cm to 5 cm.

• When doubling its size, we mash it again for 3 minutes and flatten it with a rolling pin, then with a knife we ​​cut strips, which will be our tool for wrapping the cheese sticks

• We begin to wrap the cheese sticks as I show them in the following images, those with cheese and oregano, first we pass the cheese stick next to the oregano and then we proceed to wrap it, the filling can be very varied, sausage, chocolate , bacon, everything that causes them and can be wrapped.

• When all tequeños are ready, we fry them in abundant hot oil, the cooking process is fast, we must be very careful so that they do not burn, when we remove them from the oil we let them cool for a couple of minutes and ready to eat, they are supremely rich, I recommend you do them.
