The Importance of 2nd and 3rd Opinions

Greetings, Steemians and Uloggers

It's been a crazy week over here. A 7.3 earthquake (although Venezuelan authorities say it was 6.3), which fortunately did not cause major damages and, as far as I know, any deaths; torrential rains, which always causes damage in this particular town, but nothing compared to what is happening in the State of Bolivar, where the Orinoco and Caroní rivers have flooded entire towns; and a change of currency (an alleged upgrade that has actually translated into just more inflation and people not knowing how to deal with the new figures).

As far as I am concerned, this is crazy country and nothing surprises me; I am just trying to figure out how to get off this crazy train. I have been doing my best to keep posting as often as I can, keeping my confidence on Steem and better days to come.

Today I went to the dentist (I meant to post about the previous visits, but I got caught up on other stuff and just put it aside). Today was the 3rd visit with this new dentist, Maria Eugenia, who has basically saved 3 of my teeth. Those teeth had been condemned by my previous dentist to be pulled out, given the fact that I can't afford root canal.
Well, this one doctor dared to try to fix them and did it!

She promised to send me the before-after pictures, but I have not received them yet (I'll update the post and add them if she sends them within the next 2 days). I told her I planned to promote her work over here. She has been great. I feel great knowing I will have almost of full dentition for some years to come, which is a relief.

This goes on to show that 2nd and even 3rd opinions on any matter are always good and necessary.
Had I gone with the first diagnose, I would have had 3 teeth pulled out instead of 3 teeth restored to an almost brand new condition.

As it is always the case with me, as I walked to the doctor's office (a long walk round trip) I reflected about the town and how lonely it looks. Almost no cars and almost no people. Cumaná is slowly turning into a ghost town.
A pretty one, if you ask me. I like it like that. Peace and quiet.

The halls of this medical office building used to be crowded with people. Now they look desolate.
I do not see yet the light at the end of this tunnel, but I want to think that we are getting close to it. Sometimes things have to get tragically bad in order for measures to be taken.
Let's hope that is not the case with Steem.

Thanks for your visit. Comments are more than welcome!
