Actually it could be both! lol.
Howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!
Yeah I know, you can't get much more traditional and old fashioned than I am. So when I saw this new pedal-less bicycle I thought "what in the world is THIS contraption??"
How can you have a bicycle without pedals and why would you want one?
Talk about primitive. Hey, remember the old Flintstone cartoons? And Fred's car that he had to power with his own feet? lol.
That's what this thing reminds me of. Except Fred's car at least had a seat, which this doesn't!
Ok, here it is, it's called the Fliz pedal-less(and seat-less) bicycle:
The way it works is you strap yourself into a harness and are suspended between the two wheels. You can put your feet up on treads on the rear wheel for coasting.
Of course the video shows a rider effortlessly cruising down a hill and into a plaza.
But what about going UP hills? The fun would be gone real fast.
Is this the strangest looking thing you ever saw?
Most new inventions and technology make things easier, not harder. But since I'm a dinosaur I'll let ya'll explain to me what the advantage to having this type of bicycle is. I don't get it but I'm also open minded.
It looks like a huge, uncomfortable, impractical hassle to me. But I reckon they'll sell a ton of em since they're so unusual. And here's a video to help you make up your mind about buying one. lol.
Let me know if we have any buyers out there!
Thanks for reading folks!

Texas
PS- Now here is a new invention that I think is really practical and solves a problem. This is about making umbrellas more practical and user-friendly.
The problem
It's very awkward to carry an umbrella while you have a cup of coffee with you because when you go to open a door or something that takes a free hand, you have to try and hold the cup and the umbrella handle in the same hand.
Especially difficult for people with small hands.
The solution
A company called Urban Zoo came out with an umbrella with a cup holder on the end of the handle. The only question is: Why did it takes so long for someone to come up with this? lol
You can get them on Amazon. 30 bucks.
By the way, this week the great sir @abitcoinskeptic wrote a post which addresses and solves an ecological issue connected with umbrellas and I highly recommend you get over to his blog and read that one.
Have a great weekend everyone, God bless you all!
I'm with you on this one. I can't see what the purpose is. LOL.
Also, Is that front brake only? I can see someone taking a header real quick.
Howdy sk43! Yay I have a few dinosaurs with me on this! That's a good question but if it is a front brake only, wow! I bet this costs a small fortune, I couldn't find a price but I think it deserves a reward as one of the dumbest inventions of the year!
Oh man, now I've seen everything lol. I would never buy one of those...I would say ride one,but not sure if ride is the proper way to describe the mode of propelling the thing forward. Seems like an enormous pain in the neck. Can't see you riding one either lol.
lol! Yay someone agrees with me! Thanks tamaralovelace. Yeah, I think this should get an award for one of the dumbest inventions of the year! No way I'd even try it.. strap yourself in and hang there, give me a break!

Crikey, that contraption looks decidedly uncomfortable and deleterious to one's unmentionables.
As to the cup holder; do you remember in the mad old days we used to be able to make it from A to B without needing refreshment? Boy were we tough!
lol! So true deirdyweirdy, we could go to work without an $8 cup of coffee from
Starbucks! That was roughing it!
As far as the Fliz bike, I'm so glad you agree with me, I think it's insane and would be torture to ride in hilly areas! I couldn't find a price but I bet it's close to a thousand dollars!
That will sell well said nobody ever
lol! Yeah with all the hills in Ireland I can just see someone struggling with one of these stupid things! I guess your store won't be carrying them? lol.
I’ve seen something very similar. The glide cycle. Still just as goofy looking. I think it’s for lazy people that want to think they’re still getting exercise or something along those lines. Wouldn’t be surprised if it costs a fortune as well.
You know those bikes could go over big with kids learning how to balance on a bike. Just trying to explain to my grand kids how to stop depending on the wheels and use your feet if you happen to fall one way or the other is a challenge. I remember when I was a kid you grabbed up any bike someone was willing to offer up to you whether it was three times larger then yourself and you learned real quick how to use those feet to keep from hitting the pavement. Of course kids have all the energy in the world and love a challenge so getting a running start then coasting they'd be all about that.
Howdy sunlit7! That's a great point, I never thought of it as a practical training bike but I think you're right, thank you!
Here he is Lord Flinton! I think this would be the perfect present to get you with the bike, you'd look like a natural on it I'm sure. As for the umbrella cup holder, you'd definitely be occupying that with a beer to give your free hand something else to hold... Like another can of beer haha

lol! I truly cannot imagine myself strapped in and hanging on that contraption! Maybe you should get one and do a post about how wonderful it is.
You're right about the umbrella cup holder though, good thinking! Well, I was thinking a beer on the umbrella and a gun in my other hand! lol.
I'll stick to walking on terra firma Lord Janton I think!
A gun in the other hand? #murica #fuckyeah
Posted using Partiko Android
lol! hey no swearing allowed on steemit! lol..Go #murica!
Haha I didn't think you were a sjw as well Lord Copton, sorry I didn't mean to offend you with my foul mouth lol
Posted using Partiko Android
That's okay sir nickyhavey, I figured it was a cultural thing over there so I wasn't offended. what is a sjw? Or do I want to know? lol.
Thought you'd be used to it being a redneck Lord Janton. Sjw - social justice warrior, you know, the softies who can't handle an "f" bomb lol

I'm sorry maybe I am old school or just old but that looks so weird to me
yay another dinosaur! lol.. I totally agree. You can't even sit down. Get real. lol. It's looks more like a torture device to me.
there are many of us LOL, and yes I dont see how that can be comfortable at all so yes I agree with looks like a torture device, or designed by someone who has evil intentions
A designer with evil intentions! lol..yeah to torture everyone who rides one, it's a new business concept!
Some of these new concepts are just weird to me LOL
Me to sir dinosaur! lol.. I mean JJ!
LOL sir Dinosaur I can live with that LOL
You know, as weird as that contraption looks, I think it'd be fun to try once. If you were able to pick up enough speed going down hill you could pick your legs up and feel like you were flying. That might be neat. Of course, like tobogganing, you'd have to go back UP the hill again afterward.
haha! Howdy sir wwwiebe! I agree, going down hills would be a blast and I bet it would give you that flying feeling. Good point. I bet they're expensive but they need to let people try them for free and see what they're like.
Hi jonboy, I am sticking to my "old fashioned" bike with wheels. The new style looks too hard!
And ... I daresay having a cup holder on the long handles of an umbrella is handy but heaven help the person when the wind starts blowing, lol.
Howdy today angiemitchell! But just think of all the attention you would get with that pedal-less bike! You'd be the talk of the town! lol. You could litterally be hanging around while you rode. lol. I think it looks like a torturous device to ride!
I do too and even though the attention sounds highly attractive jonboy I think I will leave it to younger fitter cyclists, lol.
I like the idea of sitting down too and I don't know if hanging there would be comfortable. Like you said, it's for the younger cyclists!
I saw a guy cruising on a unicycle yesterday. This one looks slightly less troublesome.
A unicycle? That's worse than this thing, you're right! At least with this you have the stability of two wheels. Was the guy just riding around the local neighborhood, providing people watchers with something to watch? lol.
A dinosaur in cowboy boots hat and on a pedalfree bike...........I'd pay lots of weak SA Rands to see that!
lol! That paints quite an image justjoy! You might have to wait awhile to see that sight! lol. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Downright weird invention. What a waste of time and resources. I will bet that this thing won't be popular at all.
And the umbrella with a coffee cup holder! Really!? You are so busy you don't have time to finish a cup of coffee that you must carry it with you? Okay, maybe if it's a fine day, no problem. But knowing that you have your hands full, you still want to carry so many things?
Howdy again sir Vincent! I agree about the bike and as far as carrying alot of things, most people seem to, at least over here. Not me, I don't even have an umbrella but if I was in a city where I had to walk I'd need one. I'd probably get one with a cup holder just in case!
😀
Thanks for the shout out. That umbrella with a cupholder is a great idea. I just avoid buying my coffee at the shop further from work when it is raining because I have an umbrealla without a cup holder.
The weird bicycle without pedals seems more like an inverted scooter in my opinion. I also always thought the flintstone's cars made no sense. They are essentially steamrollers and how does the back wheel stay in place?
I never even thought about that back wheel, so obvious though. lol. Now I'll laugh whenever I see an image of that!
You are just too logical if you avoid buying coffee further from work when it's raining. lol. I guess people are so addicted that they try to force it even when it's not wise.
Howdy Sir @janton, from one Tyrannosaurus Rex to another, that pedaless lump of light steel and wheels is an accident waiting to happen.
The way that I know kids, flying downhill at a tremendous speed and texting at the same time will be sure to result in something like the old Kamikaze bombers.
Now if us "old-timers" are clever, we should open up a repair shop for those contraptions.
Blessings!
lol! Flying down the hill and texting at the same time! That sounds about right sir papilloncharity, it's insane but true and I think you may be right about the repair shop but first we gotta see if these catch on...surely they won't! lol.
Evenin’ Cowboy! Definitely not on my shopping list. 😂. Umbrella with cup holder seems good invention.
lol! Hey think of all the attention you could have if you rode into town on that thing! lol.
I bought my personal fan to go on Amazon and my daughters were shaking there heats yesterday at the party, lol............check it out. Well, they call it sports fan!
However, I would like to try that bicycle, that seems fun! Altough it is not very practical.lol! you're kiddin me! You bought those fans? And they work good? Do you wear those out in public like when you go to the store? lol.
Yes they work and as I said, I wore them at the party yesterday and when I did staging on Tuesday. I don't need them in supermarket, because there is cold enough, but those clients had no AC on, so thank God I had them, lol.
Someone didn't have the AC on? Wow, it's a good thing you had those then! That was a smart purchase. Did you notice anyone staring at you or at them when you were at the party?
The party was outside..............my daughters were shaking their heads, but I am used to that. They think I am crazy already, lol. But when I was doing staging, that was a big house and AC off. Well the clients were Indian and I guess they like the heat, lol.
oh I see...Indians as in from India huh? And Canada is full of wealthy immigrants isn't it? Tons of Chinese, etc.
Oh yes!
Haha.......you do come up with some very interesting blogs @janton That certainly is a weird looking bike. I wouldn't have thought you could change the design of a bike much more than what has been around for a while. But I was wrong!
And the coffee holder attached to the umbrella????? It sure is different and I give the inventor 10 out of 10 for the novel factor.
Thanks Trudee! Well that strange bike caught my eye so I had to share it, it's just too bizarre not too! lol. I would probably laugh at someone trying to get up a big hill with that thing strapped to them!
Oh yes. It would be very entertaining to watch. 😊
Oh, that would be amazing... if you had a jet pack and full body armor for when you hit something. I broke a collar bone on a normal bike, so I may not be the best judge of such things.
lol! So would you ride one of these sir fotosdenada? A jet pack for going up the hills sounds pretty good!
