Today was one of those days where I was somewhat passively productive. I had a relatively late night last night in front of my laptop, so was not particularly “chipper” this morning. It is the last day of the school holidays today too, so I think both Jude and myself had a bit of a rock in our tums… but nonetheless Jude got up early as usual and headed out to play. I didn’t get up quite as early, but did actually get up haha! (And that was monumental I tell you!)
Passively Productive - #ULOG ENTRY No.1
......
I kicked off the day downstairs in my usual spot, but in my pj’s for a change haha! I had my coffee and then decided that I should probably make myself decent, despite my lack of enthusiasm lol.
It has been so ridiculously cold here in Cape Town lately and whilst I like to dream about having a fireplace, sadly – we don’t… and even with the gas heater on full, it is STILL darn cold – and our house is like a damn morgue in Winter - So I decided to relocate myself to my bed as I can kill two birds with one stone, by A) resting my back while I work and B) lie on a heated bed… hehe! Best Decision EVER!
Although I did do a post earlier, I decided to spend the day doing something that I don’t really get the time to do much and that was read and engage with people I follow and people I don’t. It was just the right order of “medicine” for me and although still productive, it was definitely not my most dynamic day haha! – But I am very much a fast forward pace kind of person with everything I do, so it was quite refreshing to just slow down and enjoy each and every one of the roses ;)
I think I should probably try to do that a little more often to be quite honest…
The day is pretty much done now, Jude is bathed and eating dinner and I have everything ready for the Back to School morning tomorrow… chair bag and pencil case washed and ready, lunch packed… consisting of two chicken mayo sandwiches, a boiled egg and some cucumber slices. I just LOVE how “savoury” my little man is! (not that the school would actually allow anything else) but proud to say that those are HIS selections.
So here I sit, sharing a little bit of my randomness with you with probably a lot less enthusiasm than usual haha, but hey – we all have those days don’t we… I took a break from chef duty tonight because we have enough awesomeness left over from yesterdays braai. Soyay to that! Haha ;)
This morning whilst getting dressed, Dave was listening to some motivational YouTube video in bed and essentially, the guy was speaking about how we spend about 80% of our lives working and approx. 60% of us hate our jobs. He also made mention that we all spend that ridiculous amount of time working to support ourselves for a lifespan after retirement that seldom exceeds 15 odd years. How scary is that?! (Don’t hold me to those stats ok, it’s not really the point) The point was, or rather – the message… was that we need to CHANGE that because life is short and we should be enjoying it. I made that change at the beginning of this year as a lot of you know, when I decided to close / hand over my 11 year old design and print business to my shop manager. I was so utterly desperate to get away from the stress which it entailed that I literally GAVE AWAY a PERFECTLY lucrative and well established community business which I built from the ground up. But you now what – it felt amazing!!!
This got me thinking tonight as I seem to have developed a COMPLETE reluctance and almost “avoidance” type of attitude towards anything “responsibility driven…. And in this instance, I am referring to Jude going back to school and the “regulation” which that involves.
Essentially, what I am saying is that I think I pushed myself SO far previously that now I am pretty much like once bitten twice shy. Well that’s what I feel anyway… Wouldn’t it be a grand world if there wasn’t the pressure that there is on all of us to “perform” and we could actually just ENJOY our friends, family, experiences and lives….
We can dream right ;)
Despite my “passive approach” to this day, and my seemingly enthusiastic-less attitude… I actually really enjoyed the way it all unfolded… and I think I will do it again tomorrow… but perhaps with a little more cheer ;)
……
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx

Yes, agreed! I needed it. (more than I care to admit) - and yes, roll on Summer!
no matter what mood you get up on a daily basis what really matters is that you remember that you are alive and well and that it is a new day to eat the world
Too true @merryslamb! There is always something to be grateful for.
