It had been a damn long time since we had all seen each other. Being busy, being gone, just having life doing other stuff that meeting up. Also with the holiday season and everything, that means there was more family time and less time for hanging with the girls.
But when we were trying to meet up for a bit, it was a miracle that everyone was able to have a spot in the schedules within a very short notice. An unicum I would call it, as usually Dutchies have their schedules packed fot the next upcoming months and you have to claim a spot in between somewhere.
So we rushed to meet up and this time the setting was this venue called the 'Belgian beer cafe in the city of Eindhoven. Funny I had never heard of this place even though it has been there for quite some time.
With a tremendous amount of beers coming from the tap but also coming from bottles it felt like the choice was almost overwhelming.
What about this 'Wilderen Goud' blond beer where Bierista calls it a good beer for 'on the terrace, with a barbeque or just in good company' coming in this super cool glass that also goes with the brand.
Or what about my favorite of the night called 'La Chouffe Lite' beer which you surely know with the dwarf with his red hat, but then in a more friendly 4.0% version to extend your evening.
As said...there was almost so much choice that I didn't even know where to start.
It is not only the beer...it is also the setting
As we all know by now it is not only the beers that make the place cool to hang out in, but it is also the setting that shoul suit the evening. The fun story about this place is that this used to be called 'The Bakkerij' which is the bakery in English. That was one of Eindhovens biggest coffee shops for years, and now they have shifted it over to a beer pub.
The place is actually super big and when heading towards the basement for the restrooms...this is the setting you run into. Recognize these delirium elephants from the beer? I love these kinds of details.
Details are important in these kinds of things. Also that you get the suiting glass by every beer you order. That how the tradition is in Belgium and I am happy that they are also doing that in this pub.
You were also able to order a beer in a sort of keg for in a 1 liter glass. If you do so...you have to leave one of yours shoes at the bar as a deposit for the glass...That is how cool the glasses are. (Now I heard one guy breaking his 1 liter glass, I wonder if he ever got his shoes back :D)
Just the whole place screams atmosphere, and it was getting busier and busier by the second...which is a good thing!
Snacks...correct as well!
With every beer eventually you just want some snacks and pub food on the side as well. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the amounts of choice that they had here, without breaking the bank for it.
A small snackplatter and a bag of french fries for $10 bucks in total and it was easy to share this...Cant complain about that at all for those prices!
So everything coming together, this was just a really fun setting. A couple girls who hadn't seen each other for a while, and some beers in a new cool place that surely has potential to stick around for a while.
The weekend is good!
