Rather than help families and children as they purport to, Child "Protective" Services has become a state-backed big business model which makes money from the destruction of families and the lives of children. The tyranny they impose has created a police state.

This authoritarian rule over how families are allowed to conduct themselves is relatively new. Older generations of Americans didn't grow up with the existence of CPS, as Paul Craig Roberts points out when he calls them the Gestapo. Like the Gestapo, the CPS is an intrusive government agency. Americans of the past would not have tolerated their tactics. But the new generations either don't seem to find issue due to the justification of "protecting the children", or they just don't know how bad things are.
CPS essentially operates above the law and manipulates the law to intrude into the lives of families who are not harming anyone, let along their own children. Parental rights and family rights are secondary to the imaginary "rights" that have been appropriated for this agency.
CPS has undue authority which they use not to protect children at all, but to procure them as part of an immoral larger business model of kids for cash. This is why I prefer to call them the Child Procurement Syndicate. Those involved in CPS and upholding their tyrannical power are pursing a shared interest, be it ignorantly thinking they are protecting children or knowingly fostering a model that treats children as commodities.
The power wielded by CPS is absurd, just as the Gestapo's was, and that power is used to destroy freedom and the health of children. They have deceived the masses into being perceived as "child advocates". Many people honestly think that it's the governments responsibly, and "business", to protect children from their own parents. People believe that whatever CPS does, it's acceptable, because they have an alleged legitimate reason for doing it: protecting children.
The result of this public acceptance has been to slowly erode parental rights and destroy the control parents have to protect and raise their own children. Parents are no longer being allowed to raise their children completely by their own methods. Now, parental discipline can result in an angry and ignorant child calling CPS to report their parents and creating a slew of problems for the family.
The medical industry is also a big cohort int he procurement of children that fosters the allocation of federal funds as payment for seizing children from fit parents. Doctors are now authoritarians, where ignoring their orders has serious consequences. If you dare to go against the direct wishes of a doctor, that is seen as a threat to your child.
Let your child break a fever and treat it at home rather than do as the doctor says by going to the hospital? The doctor would end up calling CPS and reporting you for child endangerment, resulting in your children being confiscated a gun point as police raid your home to support a medical kidnapping. This has happened recently. This is how seriously mad the authoritarianism has gotten in society.
In the majority of cases, children are taken for minor issues that are seized upon to justify the existence of the CPS. What's worse is that children are traumatized more than helped by being forcibly separated from their families, and in many cases the trauma becomes physical, not just psychological.
As a result of CPS legalized kidnapping, children have ended up being physical abused in groups homes, foster care or through adoption, all of which promote this sick business model of kids for cash. Many cases have resulted in sexual abuse, rape and even death. Pedophiles often get their hands on children, whereas they would have been much safer at home even if there were real authentic parental issues present.
CPS destroys families and the lives of children, more than helps them with their "work". Our modern times of fractures family and community unity and interaction may have promoted this. Whereas a family with grandparents, uncle, aunts and others were locally situated for support and assistance to raise and instill values in children, this is not often the case.
Plus, parents are increasingly separating, which provides less structure and unity as a family unit to raise a child. This separation created less support for the child. And both parents are working now compared to former generations where the man provided for the women to raise children with more involvement.
Society is becoming fractured with identity politics and less shared norms, values and cooperation to foster trust as a community. The government has filled in many of the whole from our dysfunctional lives, ready to act as a tyrannical glue to control us and how we live. Individual freedom and rights are being erased. This is the new standard and norm for society as the family and children pay the price for our collective ignorance.

Neither would the media. When I was a kid, the news (while still being a propaganda machine) was concerned with its image, and maintained a degree of journalism that would get journalists fired these days at most places. It was almost like a religion the way the relationship worked between them and the public.
Fast forward to cable TV and the 24 hour news cycles and we have degenerated into an editorializing, Jerry Springerish style of "news" where most is designed to keep the masses frothing at the mouth over "them"
Then you throw in the internet, lower spending power, broken families, treadmills of work just to keep things afloat for another day for most (these are the type most often targeted by CPS).
The constant barrage of information/disinformation, and people are cynical and tired and saying "F*** those strangers, I got my own problems to worry about. They probably deserved it, I bet they are part of "them" and that's what they get for voting for the Orange man, or for being a libtard, or one of those "insert the hated group" and dammit man, I don't have no time for this."
If people don't get this soon, these will be considered the good old days.
That is indeed what plagues humanity: not my life my survival, my freedom, my truth, therefore whatever it doesn't matter. And then everyone is left to their own devices as the powerful tyrants dominate each person of group individually. If it's not personally related to people, they don't care. War over there, etc, that's not my problem, my life is fine :/

I sadly think the good ole days are far behind us. The monster that CPS has grown into is voracious as families have become compromised by children living in different households or if parents take certain medical stances that may be controversial. Custody battles, family struggles and strifes has fed the organization. They act over the top and above the law. Their behavior has not become repugnant to the masses. Maybe people have an inkling, something nudging them that something is amiss. Or maybe we have a generation that feels it is moral to police parents and therefore, CPS is a good and above reproach.
Society is flirting with the danger zone allowing gestapo behavior.

The dumbed down public has granted the CPS way too much power. The concerned fighting spirit has been replaced with poor health and apathy and evil has seen an entrance. I fear the day when these powers will be seriously expanded to confront older adults and seniors. Thanks @krnel I am belligerent enough not to take the gestapo mentality.
I've heard horror stories of how seniors are being legally robbed of their property by taking them into state custody for bullshit reasons (based on a doctor's statement without being properly tested for dementia) and charging them and their loved ones exorbitant "legal fees" for the simplest things such as short email communications. This has been happening in states where there are a lot of retirees who've moved from other states.
I wonder if there are ways to defend against this by setting up a trust beforehand, for example.
Yes, medical kidnapping is already being applied to the elderly as they are taken away from family by state, often to siphon off their savings for forced welfare money grubbers. It's robbery and imprisonment.
