So, last Saturday we had our hangout as usual, and it was just so much fun we did not want it to end. We are currently on the first topic for this week which is “A SMART STUDENT”.

But before we proceed with the details of the topic, let us take a look at the winners of the last topic which was “RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH”.

This topic was geared toward each member of the community telling us about the right of every individual to free speech and how it was constantly abused by those in power. The masses are always intimidated into keeping quiet, even when it is to their own detriment.

We got to see several scare tactics that the government has used to suppress the opinions of the people. In many climes, speaking up can mean a death sentence or even a prison term. It’s a sad occurence that is getting more and more prevalent, and sadly it doesn’t seem to be coming to an end any time soon.

For this topic, we went through every entry post, and that is every post with the #hl-exclusive & #hl-w133e3 tag. And with the number of wonderful posts out there it was quite difficult to make a selection. But eventually, we did just that. And so, the posts that will be featured not just for their exceptional content, but also for their level of engagement with other authors will be listed below.

Featured Contents

THE STRUGGLES FOR VOICES: POWER DYNAMICS AND FREE SPEECH by @amberkashif

This author told us about the dangers of censorship to free speech and how some laws are used to circumvent the right to free speech in several parts of the world. It’s her opinion that only those in power really have the right to free speech because they are the only ones who can say whatever they want and get away with it.

FREE SPEECH: A FRAGILE RIGHT by @nhaji01

For this author, she shared with us the instances of how the government tried to suppress free speech and their right to protest by getting so many innocents arrested and thrown into jail. The governments seem to be focused on protecting their personal interests instead of that of the people. It’s a sad reality for so many people.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AT RISK @shiftrox

For this author, he talked about the lengths the government has gone to to suppress free speech in his country. From banning social media platforms to trying to monitor and control every single thing that the people do. The people have a right to express their opinions and their grievances, however, that can be risky because the government is willing to do everything they can to keepit under lids.

All of the above contents were supported by our official curation account lazy-panda with an extra amount. The first 3 authors will receive 100 ECENCY Points [ Sponsored By Ecency Team (@melinda010100) ] and 1 $PANDAMINER each as a reward next Monday. These posts were selected because of their special attention to detail and how they followed the topic. There were a lot of good ones out there, but we just could not pick them all.

But then, we have some honorable mentions which are listed below:

Honorable Mention

THE IMPACT OF MISUSED FREEDOM by @bhattg

FREE SPEECH DOESN’T EXIST by @terganftp

SHUT UP by @kilvnrex

These are posts that were also found to be quite exceptional as well

AND NOW, WE MOVE ON TO THE NEW TOPIC!

Week 134 - Edition 01 Topic

A SMART STUDENT

*“In a world where how smart you work pays way better than how hard you work, do you think students can do better with less stringent rules? Is the traditional way of writing exams still working? Can it be stepped up to the demands of just how far technology has grown so that even if the students have access to their phones or the internet during the exams, it won't make any difference. What suggestions can you proffer for the educational system?”
