Wellington Special Pale Ale

in BEER7 days ago
This might be a short one for this week's #Beersaturday. I was pretty sick this week with some sort of bug that I no doubt picked up at the hospital I work at. It's the season after all. Lots of covid, and lots of Rhino virus going around. I drank the beer in this post last weekend and haven't had another beer since as of yet. Nonetheless, let me tell you about this beauty from Wellington Brewery. It was a gem.

Marketing: A metallic yellow (or brushed brass) colored can with bold black lettering that really pops. Characteristic Wellington Boot brand logo prominantly displayed. Subtle showcase of a few medals that the beer has won in competition and some extra information about the beer printed on the reverse side. A very simple but effective can in my opinion.

Color: The beer poured a coppery brown color with a cream colored head made up of hearty bubbles. It's nice when the head doesn't just dissappear after a few short moments. I also like it when the foam leaves a nice lacing on the glass.

Nose: Malty scent with some aromatics from the hops. I got grassy hay and some subtle floral notes coming through. Maybe a little bread dough as well. Very pleasant nose.

Taste: The beer was mainly dry up front with a nice tanginess and then a sharp bitter finish. Good flavor overall. I could taste both the malt and the hops notes.

Texture: Very good carbonation that lasted the entire tasting session. A bit of a watery mouthfeel underneath. It felt light bodied to me.

Impression: This was a very good beer to me overall. I happen to like the Wellington Brewery quite a bit. It had a nice amount of flavor without being overpowering. It Tasted fresh and crisp. For me it was more of a summer beer but still great on a gloomy cold December day like the one i drank it on. I would definitely drink this one again.

I drank it while I cooked BBQ style ribs that night. It was a good combination a the ribs turned out pretty good as well.

It was a pretty decent beer overall. I had fun with the photos this time around ☺️

That's a pretty cool name for a beer and the logo is interesting too.
The ribs are a tease!

Get well soon!🤗...
I hate to share an IG link here, but I saw this and thought it's something you'd like and nothing beats a good laugh when you're sick in bed 😂

That was pretty good magic. Sometimes I wonder how much is just video editing ???

How much is just video editing ???

Yeah, honestly, I think that one was all editing, but I got a good laugh 😂

They were good illusions for sure

Sorry to hear that you've been unwell my friend and glad to here that this Wellington beer was a gem. Hopefully you don't have Covid or Rhino. Really nice photos by the way and those ribs look finger licking good!!

Thanks for the well wishes.
The ribs turned out pretty good. It was a great last meal before getting sick 😂

😁😁 The absolute worst is losing your sense of smell when sick and no matter how nice the food, ya can't feckin taste it!

That would be annoying. I never had that. All my joints hurt though, like my bones rubbing on bone. My neck felt like a cement mixer 😆

Loving the boot logo 😂 Looks so tempting to try this beer. BBQ ribs must have been super filling. Great to hear that the malt and hops flavor was a good touch to it. Happy to come across your page. 😁

Yeah the ribs and beer were a good combination that day. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate it.

Ribs a beer is a fluffing classic combination!
Hope you feel better soon!

Yes that's true. They go together like they were meant to be!

Thanks 😊
