Hello everyone 🤗, welcome to my blog, this week's topic reminded me of a wonderful relationship found just by my little act of gratitude.
In my country, after completing university, we are required to serve our motherland through a one-year service course known as NYSC.
I was posted to a state I had never been before, which was pretty far away from my home state. It was difficult for me to acquire an accomodation there because I didn't know my way around, and the rent is very high.
One day, I met a man who informed me he owns an apartment that he solely rents out to NYSC members. He suggested that even if I don't have the entire fee, I can pay the amount i have and then move into the flat until I have enough money to pay him.
I was so excited that I kept thanking the man multiple times. I kept repeating thank you until the man told me to stop because it was too much.
I told him how appreciative I am and how I didn't even realize I was pestering him with thank you. I told him about my ordeal since I arrived in the state. He looked at me and smiled. He stated he had never been appreciated like this before.
As soon as I received my salary, I went to give him the remaining rent fee at his office. I bought a bottle of wine to thank him for his generous gesture.
He smiled at me and invited me to see him at home the next day so that he could introduce me to his wife.
The next day after work, i went to his house. He happily introduced me to his wife. We got talking after we had shared pleasantries. He explained that he reserved the flat for NYSC members because he struggled to find an apartment during his days of service. He decided to help others so they dont suffer like he did.
He added that most people never paid back the rent amount, no one has ever acknowledged him for his kindness, and he even stated that most of his tenants will leave the apartment dirty or damage some properties in the apartment.
He gave me back the money I paid him he even added more money, gave me lots of foodstuffs, he asked me to visit his home whenever I want to because he is now like a father to me.
Just my little act of thanksgiving, I got a foster parents who took care of me like I was theirs. I ended up enjoying my service year in a strange land.

I have always been thankful of little, i just do it because my mother emphasized on it. So i grew up saying thank you whenever there's need for it but i never knew i could be rewarded for being thankful.
Thankfulness open ways to greatness.
