Hello, friends. Yesterday I had the opportunity to make a very special visit to the city of Placetas, in the province of Villa Clara, together with my cousin. It was an incredible day, and I want to tell you a little about this experience.
The first thing that caught my attention when I arrived in Placetas was its colonial buildings. Old and well-preserved structures are everywhere, which gives the city an atmosphere full of history. But what really caught my attention was the Rafael Casallas Monteagudo Park, the main meeting and recreation point of the city.
This park is an architectural beauty. It is surrounded by some of the most emblematic buildings of Placetas, which have been recently restored to preserve their historical beauty. Upon arrival I could appreciate a special little place called Rincón de las Madres, which is a tribute to the mothers of the city and a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the park.
One of the most outstanding buildings in the vicinity of the park is the San Atanacio Church, an impressive 19th century construction that rises majestically. Its architecture is impressive, and unfortunately I was not fortunate enough to be able to enter and appreciate its interior details.
Another building that caught my attention was the current municipal government, which also dates from the 19th century and is beautifully restored. It is an example of how Placetas has made an effort to keep its historical heritage in excellent condition.
Last but not least is the youth club, a building that shows the dynamism and energy of the youth of Placetas. Its beauty leaves everyone in awe and made me wonder how beautiful this city would have been before 1959.
Visiting Placetas after so many years was an experience that has made me rethink the desire to return on a weekday to visit the church inside and the museum, which was closed on Sunday. The city is renewed and full of life, with a very positive change since my previous visit. So expect another visit.
