No More Food Waste
In the EU alone we have at least 88 million tonnes of food wasted every year with the associated costs estimated at 143 billion Euros (~163 billion US dollars). source
Since I was forced to become a chef and have seen some of the worst, I fight against this insanity on all stages and especially at home... We all can do lots of good to keep the food waste / food loss as little as possible to none at all...
- Plan your shopping & consider the budget you have (waste is expensive)
- Check the dates on what you buy... are you eating that before it out-dates?
- Store in the right environment and rotate properly
- Prepare and serve only what you need to "make everybody happy"
- May you freeze some cooked food for a short time
- AND USE up ALL your LEFTOVERS... you'll find some nice new recipes like that too!
About the loss in all the production levels, why on earth do we have to have "spotless" products. As like the apple with a brown dot is less delicious... actually it is often the opposite. The big food suppliers are not the only problem here, it's more the consumer asking for the "spotless" and the big business behind the whole scene, with all the big money involved who says: The customer is king! And this is only the beginning...
Sorry, but f**k that. Today most customers are "idiots", not even capable of cooking the easiest meals... and the greedy business is giving them the ready-to-eat meal with all the sickening stuff in it, to save "them" more time for their life. And the multi-nationals are only interested in the big money, they don't give a damn about healthy humans. WTF! What is more important then some sane healthy food... nothing besides some clean fresh water. But that's a story for another time.
And just BTW - the word Diet comes from the ancient Greek word "diaitáō" which means "I treat, handle", or: way of living - mode of life... think about that for once!
Anyway, back to what I wanna share here. No Food Waste or as I call this start of my series: No Waste Of Taste! I will post some small videos with what I managed to put together with the leftovers I'll find... If you have any questions about cooking or the menu you'll see, please ask in the comments.
