Hello Hive
Isn't it a wonderful and pleasurable thing to enjoy the fruit of your labor? Especially when you have labored manually and grown some crops only to sit back now, relax, and enjoy the proceeds of your harvest. This is currently our experience, as there is not much work to be done on the farm as we are in the dry season.
It has been some good moments of rest, and not just that; we also get to enjoy our harvested farm products, preparing them into various delicacies. I'm so happy to have escaped the current hunger in town, as I have some corn and peas in storage. I currently do not know how expensive food has gotten, and I'm happy that I was able to endure the labor that is making me at rest today.
Do you remember our groundnut harvest?
What meals can you make from these peas?
A whole lot of different and special delicacies. There is also a special drink we make from these peas, and I'm sure that you will be excited to know about that later. Each time I am privileged to prepare any of these meals, I will delight your eyes with how it looks and equally the preparation methods.
Moreover, groundnuts are heavily rich in protein and other vital minerals; hence, you get to enjoy some healthy meals eating groundnut soups.
For today I prepared some groundnut soup, with purely local ingredients and the addition of Roselle too.
Is there anyone here who eats Roselle? I was able to harvest some Roselle leaf parts and have preserved them by drying. Now I can have it all year round for making soup.
To make groundnut soup, we need the following lists of ingredients:
Groundnuts
Roselle
Vegetables
Scotch bonnet
Spring onions
Seasonings
Meat or fish.
Palm oil
We start by preparing the groundnuts, roasting them, peeling the back, and pounding them in a mortar.
Then we wash, cut, and clean the vegetables and Roselle.
Next we blend some onions and pepper, dicing the spring onions as well. Prepare your meat/fish as desired by boiling and seasoning it separately.
Once you have your oil heated up, lightly fry the blended peppers, adding your seasoning and meat/fish.
Once this is properly fried, you add some meat broth and then the cleaned Roselle. We add this much earlier since there are some hard leaves (from drying and storing them) that need to soften out before the soup gets ready. I allowed this to cook for a good while before I then added the blended groundnuts, and the fresh and soft vegetables go in next.
This will boil for another few minutes, and our soup is ready.
You can choose to eat this with any swallow meal, be it semovita or wheat. I prepared some corn flour and enjoyed this meal with my family.
There's always this satisfaction when cooking from the things that we harvest ourselves.
That's right dear, thanks you so much.
This look so delicious, making this out of your own harvest is so amazing, I always said that planting is good and is the right choice for every human being, you did great dear, well-done.
It's a beautiful process from doing it all yourself, from harvesting to cooking. Just lovely
Thanks a lot dear 💖
