Part 34

In the last days of March, the first flowers were opened on the plateau above the city of Yerşehir. The inhabitants of the Yerşehir were enjoying the bright sky and the sun that warm their bones, scattered all over the wide plateau. The suffering of the martyrs during the great attack had been overcome and the hunger problem had been solved completely, and it was time to celebrate.

The Yerşehir High Council Orchestra played the music lovers' favorite tunes on the wooden platform located on the grass; the sound of the lyre, harp, double pipe, and drums was different in the open air. In order to hear this new tune, music lovers were sitting around the platform and watching the musicians in an enchanted state.

The children were running around on the grass and looking at the acrobats' performances once in a while. Young people who tried to ride on a single-wheel bike on the grass often stuck on the bumps and laughed at each other. Some adults who could not wait until evening events in the city center started drinking wine. They climbed to the unfinished walls of the city and enjoyed the view with wine.

Omay was enjoying the conversation with Doma and Akman in her presidential tent. The people were happy, and in the next few weeks, she would be re-elected. Hader insisted to erect a statue of her in front of parliament, showing her with the lion clawed crutch. Every time she saw that statue, she was more convinced that she had done a good job. Akman's frequent entering and leaving Omay's House led to the spread of rumors that there was a love affair between them. Akman began to pay attention to his clothes and his behavior in society. Although he still lived in a small hive, he was careful not to drink the wine too much and not to provoke people with his words.

“There is confusion in Eastern Rome, the people want a republic,” said Doma, who had an anxious expression on his face when he said that.

"Why is it worrying you that the people of Istanbul want to vote?" Akman asked.

"Emperor Valens is worried that he will lose his throne. Spies are everywhere in Yerşehir,” said Master Doma.

“Let's at least be busy with the good things on this festive day,” Akman said.

“Emperor Valens is determined to resemble Yerşehir to Istanbul. They're trying to spread their monotheistic religion in the outskirts of the city.”

"I think Istanbul will look like Yerşehir. We're the ones who beat the robots.”

“Let's not undertake what Doma says. With the victory we've won against the robots, we've brought all the attention to us. We do not have an imperial perspective, our foreign policy culture is weak and this concerns me,” Omay said.

"What could possibly be the worst case?" Akman asked.

"They can organize assassinations and rebellions by collaborating with people from the inside. There are many examples in the history.”

Omay looked up at the sky from the circle-shaped opening at the top of the presidential tent. "The prophecy said that a popular person would be killed in Yerşehir. Let's go out for a walk and talk about it later.”

Outside the air was clouded, but the sun kept shining up. They met Derma and Sitta in front of the tent. Sitta had left his unicycle aside and began to talk to Derma. They all started walking along to the wall on the edge of the plateau. The wall surrounded the plateau, but it has not yet reached its planned height.

”There hasn't been an attack from robots recently," Akman said.

”It is good to be cautious," said Omay.

“The greatest danger stems from East Rome. You'd better increase the number of personal guards,” said Doma.

The Watchtower of the wall south of the plateau had just been completed. They entered through the door of the tower and started to climb slowly from the revolving stairs. Towards the end, Akman realized that Omay was tired. The valley in front of them looked beautiful from the top of the tower. From where they were, they watched the fun of people in the plateau and the vast forests stretching south.

“Seeing this view has allowed me to re-warm the wall idea,” Akman said.

“It's beautiful,” said Doma. They turned around and looked at this dignified old man. For the first time, Derma saw this kind of word coming out of his mouth.

“I wish I had wings,” Sitta said, pointing to the valley and the forests in front of them.

Omay smiled and said, “maybe one day someone will discover a single-wheel plane.”
