After reaching Tabriz, we started looking for some attractions, and there are quite a few of them in this inconspicuous city. Suffice it to say that Tabriz is home to one of the oldest bazaars in the Middle East, which is also the largest covered bazaar in the world. The facility, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, dates back to 1346, when it was built on the main part of the Silk Road connecting China with Europe. When we hear the largest covered bazaar in the world, we imagine a large hall or a complex of many halls connected together where regular trade takes place, but this is not the case with the Grand Bazaar in Tabriz. In Tabriz, the bazaar is nothing more than a large quarter of 28 hectares created between Jomhoori Eslami, Dayrai, Azadegan and Rasteh Kucheh streets. You won't find many trees in this area, because all the streets in this square are covered with roofs and create a real tangle in which an ordinary person without a local guide will simply get lost in one minute. What can you buy at this bazaar? ALL ! From such trivial things as food, electronics and household appliances from China, to more interesting things such as clothes, perfumes, carpets, decorated dishes of the highest craftsman quality. The unique location of the city of Tabriz has led to the development of all kinds of processing over the centuries, which in 2015 was recognized as the world capital of Persian carpets by the World Handicrafts Council. In Europe it is now so difficult to find any craftsmanship producing something on a small scale for the local market. In Europe, you are either a large factory that produces and exports to 50 foreign markets, or you do not exist. There are rare exceptions of craftsmen producing various things from knives, clothes, shoes and dishes, but it should be noted that these European handicraft products are of high quality, but at the same time extremely expensive. In Iran it is quite the opposite. Thousands of craftsmen produce and sell all kinds of cannons at the local bazaar. An incredible story, because when you pick up a given item, e.g. sandals, you know that you have this one and only pair in the world, and although others are similar to them, it is not a 1:1 machine copy, but a work of human hands created several hundred meters away. .
Lest it be said that the Grand Bazaar was the only place we visited in Tabriz, I must admit that we also visited something like the Museum of Persian Poetry in Tabriz (remember that Persians love poetry and music. We also visited the history museum region, but since both museums did not offer a single word in English or any Western language, our visit was quite modest and was based solely on viewing the resources and talking to our guide.

Po dotarciu do Tabriz zaczęliśmy się rozglądać za jakimiś atrakcjami, a w tym niepozornym mieście jest ich niemało. Wystarczy wspomnieć, że w Tabriz mieści się jeden z najstarszych bazarów na bliskim wschodzie, który jest jednocześnie największym zadaszonym bazarem na świecie. Obiekt wpisany na listę światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO pochodzi z roku 1346, od kiedy to zbudowano go na głównym ciągu jedwabnego szlaku łączącego Chiny z Europą. Słysząc największy zadaszony bazar na świcie wyobrażamy sobie wielka halę albo kompleks wielu hal połączonych ze sobą w których odbywa się regularny handel, ale nie w przypadku Wielkiego Bazaru w Tabriz. W Tabriz bazar to nic innego jak wielki kwartał o powierzchni 28 hektarów utworzony między ulicami Jomhoori Eslami, Dayrai, Azadegan i Rasteh Kucheh. Na tej powierzchni nie znajdziemy za wielu drzew, bo cała zabudowa uliczek w tym kwadracie jest zadaszona i tworzy prawdziwą plątaninę, w której zwykła osoba bez lokalnego przewodnika po prostu zgubi się w przeciągu jednej minuty. A co można kupić na tym bazarze? WSZYSTKO ! Od tak trywialnych rzeczy jak jedzenie, sprzęt RTV i AGD z Chin, po ciekawsze rzeczy jak ubrania, perfumy, dywany, zdobione naczynia i to najwyższej rzemieślniczej jakości. Unikalne położenie miasta Tabriz sprawiło, że przez wieki rozwinęło się w nim wszelkiego rodzaju przetwórstwo, co w roku 2015 zostało docenione tytułem światowej stolicy dywanów perskich nadanym przez Światowa Rada Rękodzieła. W Europie tak ciężko jest znaleźć teraz jakikolwiek rzemieślniczy zakład produkujący coś na niewielka skalę rynku lokalnego. W Europie albo powiadasz wielka manufakturę która produkuje i eksportuje na 50 zagranicznych rynków, albo nie istniejesz. Są rzadkie wyjątki rzemieślników produkujących różne rzeczy od noży, ubrań obuwia naczyń, ale trzeba zaznaczyć, że te europejskie rzemieślnicze produkty są owszem wysokiej jakości, ale jednocześnie szalenie drogie. W Iranie rzecz ma się zupełnie odwrotnie. Tysiące rzemieślników produkujących i sprzedających na lokalnym bazarze wszelkiego rodzaju działa. Niebywała historia, bo biorąc daną rzecz np. sandały do ręki wiesz, że masz tą jedna jedyna parę na świecie, i choć inne są do nich podobne, to jednak nie jest to maszynowa kopia 1:1, tylko dzieło ludzkich rąk stworzone kilkaset metrów obok.
Żeby nie było, że Wielki Bazar był jedynym miejscem odwiedzonym przez nas w Tabriz, to muszę przyznać, że byliśmy jeszcze w czym w rodzaju Muzeum Perskiej Poezji w Tabriz ( trzeba pamiętać, że Persowie miłują się w poezji i muzyce. Odwiedziliśmy również oraz muzeum historii regionu, ale że w obu muzeach nie można było uraczyć ani jednego słowa w języku angielskim oraz jakimkolwiek języku zachodnim to nasza wizyta była dość skromna i opierała się wyłącznie na oglądania zasobów i rozmowie z naszym przewodnikiem.
