Travel Norway #20 - Where winter & autumn meets - Autumnal visit in Viromdalen and Innerdalen

in #travelfeed6 years ago

Hi there Friends!!

Welcome all to my new Travel Norway post - today I want to share one of my amazing visits in Trollheimen national park.
This time will be little shorter but still I hope You will like it, because the conditions and views were amazing and unique.

What was unique? The weather conditions create amazing looking landscapes - all the shadowed ground were covered by thick hoarfrost (is this the right word? ;)). In the same time - sunny areas were beautifully yellow and orange, still covered with autumnal colours.

But what can say more , just look at this:

IMG_1059.jpg

Original photo is a big panoramic image, made from several vertical shots.
The area around the river were covered with ice thick layer of icy crystals everywhere. Magical land!

The valley is called Viromdalen - we can reach it by driving north from Sunndalsøra town situated by the shores of Sunndalsfjorden fiord. Really nice area to visit!

I stopped by the road in few spots to catch the amazing light and views. The road was very slippy by the way, so it was really hard to drive faster than 20km/h. I don't use spiked wheels so always have to be careful in Norway, many roads here are kept in a "white" conditions - the snow is being removed but the salt is used only on the main roads, rest of smaller ones are really icy. But, back to the trip...

Following the road we are finally reaching parking place - in the same town - this is the end of public road - further up the mountains can drive only permited cars and people who live and work in tourist shelter in Innerdalen.

Frm the car park we can take the path up to the Innerdalen - the place which I presented already in the Travel Norway series some time ago. Check the link below if You are interested in getting more details and pictures of it.

The road from Viromdalen to Innerdalen:

As You can see, the weather was fantastic! The warm autumnal light made the colours much more saturated - great contrast between blue sky, yellow forests and blue-white cold valleys. Amazing conditions, fantastic photographic trip!

Here You can see and hear the amazing autumn which was still present in the mountain forest there:

After reaching the Innerdalen valley - I found that the biggest lake in the valley are partly frozen already. I went to the lake shore to catch some motives. The views were great! Water level on the lake was very low, autumn that year was long, sunny and dry - not like this year's.

Innerdalvatnet lake's shore:

Freezing water create fantastic patterns on ice cover. which was still very thin. It was imposible to walk on it but I catched few nice motives just by the shore:

You can visit the same place many times and discover it in the new way. The season of the year, weather conditions, some other natural conditions - like this low water level, are changing the same landscapes in so many ways... If You think about this and think about how many great places You can visit in Norway - giving infinite number of fantastic photo-outdoor-workshops oportunities!

Life is simply to short, wish to be the vampire ;)... then I could have enough time to reach some of the places and experience more fantastic stuff.

The view on frozen Innerdalsvatnet lake and Innerdalstarnet mountain - iconic view from Innerdalen valley:

It was amazing day, amazing photo trip, many of the shots still waiting to be prepared and shared to the world...

I hope You like the gallery and this short story.

If You have any thoughts, opinions, questions, please write in comment! Thanks!

Until next one!

@photovisions, You have captured the right moment of the scenery, It was so beautiful. Especially the 3rd photo where you have captured 2 different season, Autumn and winter. It was terrific. When I saw the snow, i felt that charismas is near and I can heard the Christmas song playing in my ear. The last few photos, was that an ice on the lake? You can make all these photos of yours into postcard. It beautiful, you have captured the right moment. You have shown the beauty of Norway in your photo. I noticed that you post a lot of your travel journey. In average, how many places you travel in one year? I am glad that we have steemians like you to show us all the places you have visited in a photo. So that we won’t miss any beautiful places which it does not cover in our travel guide

Thanks for nice comment! About Norway and my traveling - it is really huge country, I live here almost 6 years but to be honest , I saw maybe 10% of the area... The country is so full of amazing places that I could travel whole year round and wont be bored, visiting new places every day. But the landscape in photography is one thing - the other thing is to be in right time in right place, to catch some amazing moments created by weather, light, nature itself - this was definitely one of the right moments and right places :).
Stay tuned, I will be posting more!

@photovisions, sometimes we didn't know that we stay in an amazing country and have a lot of nice places for us to visit. Until we saw someone talk about it. This really good of you to travel around norway and show us the beauty of your country. Since christmas is coming, I can't wait to see your photo of Snows.. Snow always make me feel peaceful of calm, must be because of the color.

I think snowy shots will be pretty soon!

Beautiful photos @photovisions! Love the wave patterns on the freezing water. It is quite amazing that it freezes and still maintains the wave patterns. Aaahh it is so nice and calming to be able to experience autumn and winter, such beautiful scenery. Thank you @photovisions!

Thank You, freezing water creates amazing forms and I think it is even hard to explain or understand ;)...

:) You are absolutely right. We can just appreciate and enjoy the view in amazement :) Happy weekend there @photovisions!

Norway is such a beautiful and interesting country, so bad that I had to leave it for the winter. Pictures of the frozen water and patterns created by the ice are just stunning same as contrast between sunny autumn and cold winter captured by your eye. I am not sure if I should mention it again but you are the true champion in the game of colors. Love your every post

Thank You very much for such great comment and I hope You will stay to see more from my side :). I am really happy You enjoy my works.

I almost can’t believe my eyes! 👀 it is so beautiful! Amazing!

Thank You, it was even better live :). Sometimes world is full of magic!

Wow, really amazing place and great photos! How cold it was outside there ?

Wasn't cold, little above 0 degree Celsius in sunny places, maybe -2, -3 in the shadow. Was getting colder when I was going back in the evening. Thanks for comment!

very nice warm/cold contrast and the ice textures are very beautiful :)
Here everything is starting to turn yellow now. Autumn was delayed a bit this year :)

Here the autumn is finished. Some parts of Norway is white already. This year's autumn was short, cold and wet...Thank You for comment!

Amazing photos, especially that contrasts - frozen shadows vs warm and sunny landscape.

Thanks, the contrasts were beautiful that day!

You're welcome @photovisions, they are really amazing good.

Beautiful pictures! I love this time in Norway and I'm fascinated by the beauty of the light spectacle =) Thanks for sharing it!

I think autumn is the best time to visit Norway - all the landscape has its amazing colours, the light is warm and magical and the nights are black enough to see the Aurora Borealis dancing...
Thanks!

Those wavy patterns in the ice are amazing.

Thanks, i like ice - it creates amazing forms.

Are you going to steemfest in poland?

Hello your photos are amazing i love the contrast with the warm tone of the sun and the cool one of the snow. The photo of the freezing water doing some funny patterns is amazing!!!

The photo You mention is one of my favourites made that day. Ice is a great artistic creator. Thanks a lot!

Yes it is definitely a natural artistic creator it looks incredible.

Your photos are really breathtaking! I especially love the second to the last and last photo. Actually, I am having a hard time choosing a favorite because all of these are amazing, the fall shots, the ice... They are all great!

Nice to hear, thanks a lot for comment!!

Wow, not only was it a great day for shooting pictures, but you clearly have an eye for it. I love the way you frame the mountains when you're taking your shots. And the way it's bright and sunny, but frozen at the same time make for a stunning contrast. It feels warm, but you know it's cold due to the ice. Great job!

It was quite tricky to combine this two different world on one shot. I could do it by making two different exposures and then merging the shots together , but I am sure it won't give any natural effect. Looks good and I am happy You liked it as well!

It was nice to see your photos that will help us to learn more about the Norway and it is nature. This time and close to winter there are moments when sun comes up but not all the surface equally covered by snow that means there are some areas where snow melt and the other where still ice, the moments of pictures snow is melting quickly so you have to be fast to capture these moments. Awesome pictures of autumn!

Thank You. There is a time in the year when different seasons meets creating some unique pictures like these....

Very beautiful pictures. Nature is so amazing in its beauty that it seems that time has stopped on Your photos. I fully agree with you that you can visit the same place and every time it will be a completely different landscape. I liked the way the thin ice looks in your photos. It's like something very fragile, like a thin line, but even here we can see a pattern. Nature managed to draw his pictures :). Great footage. You live in a very beautiful country.
