Origin and personality:
Arthur Crone grew up in a harsh environment, raised by an uncaring mother and abusive alcoholic father. During his teen years, Arthur discovered heavy metal music and his talent for it. At age 17, he was already performing in with his first band Dirtspit. By his early 20’s he moved on to drumming for the black metal band Nevergeist and performed with them for several years before he started showing signs of Olympium poisoning.
The Olympium infected him with a disorder that caused him to absorb sound waves. While he did his best to learn how to control it, it wasn’t good enough for his band. He would experience flare-ups during concerts, which absorbed the music to the point where shows had to sometimes be cancelled by the third song because Arthur was disrupting the performance. At age 26, he was kicked out of the band. What’s worse, his issue was well-known in the industry so nobody else would give him a chance even after he learned how to control his ability.
Not only did the Olympium poisoning kill his career, years of touring and performing with death metal bands damaged his vocal cords and while he can still speak, its very low and raspy. This damage also prevents him from yelling or screaming, which limits his vocal volume.
With his career ruined, he turned to alcohol, drugs and crime to get by day-by-day. His hatred for Olympium and anger towards the world that tossed him away constantly ate away at him. Eventually, he was discovered living on the streets by several Martyrs, who had heard rumors about his abilities and promptly convinced him to join.

Drumsticks and a pouch of marbles.
Abilities:
Sound absorption
Silence has the ability to absorb sound waves and collect them within his body. Once absorbed, he can infuse objects with the energy he’s collected from the environment, which turns them into explosives. He carries a pouch of marbles with him at all times, because they’re small and easy to throw once he’s charged them with explosive power.
While he favors using explosively-charged projectiles as his weapon of choice, he can also apply his power to any non-organic object, however the bigger the object is the more energy it takes to convert it. Anything larger than a car takes too much energy to convert into an explosive, so he normally uses smaller items that are quick and easy to charge up. Only matter made of similar composition will accept a charge, so charging up a door handle would make just the handle explosive, not the whole door. Objects can be overloaded if Silence isn’t focused or becomes distracted, which makes them unstable and may even detonate in his hand.
Silence is able to booby trap an environment if he has time to prepare, by powering up bricks, rocks, chairs or anything else someone might come in contact with. The energy store in his traps dissipates at a rate of 5% per minute.
Pulse wave
Silence can also choose to expel all of the sonic energy he’s collected in a pulse wave that radiates out from his center in the shape of a sphere reaching up to a 15-foot diameter. This pulse wave will repel objects caught in the sphere away from him, including other characters. However, this is an all-or-nothing ability which drains all of the energy he has stored, leaving him vulnerable after its use.
Weakness
Without elements that create a significant amount of noise, Silence is a minor threat. He must generate sound himself in quiet areas to create the energy required to fuel his abilities. Incapacitating his arms or legs in a low noise area essentially render him powerless and his vocal condition prevents him from yelling or screaming to generate sonic energy. He carries his drumsticks with him at all times to generate sound waves on whatever he can find in his environment, and naturally targets materials that produce a lot of sound when struck with his drumsticks.
Other notes
His alias comes from the fact that when he engages his power to collect sound waves, a sphere of silence surrounds him as all of the sound is absorbed.
