First Outing With the Pop Top - Do We Like It?

in DIYHublast year

On the weekend we had a Sunday drive to a Land Rover meet - a bit of a disappointing affair, as most people had left on the Saturday or perhaps were out on a drive. But we stayed for a few hours chatting and lot of people came over to admire what we'd done, and get ideas to make their own.

Importantly, we made a coffee inside on the benchtop. It was so strange standing up inside to do this but very, very cool. When the bed is lifted up, there will be even more room - we're buying latches today to do this very thing.

Whilst Jamie went out with his mate on a drive, I laid up in the bedroom and read - it's a book by a female explorer called Barbara Toy who travelled all over the world in the '50's in her Landie. Most people hadn't heard of her because it's the men's stories who dominate. Anyway, it was super comfortable and although it was windy, the canvas barely moved at all.

I'm super, super pleased with this molle bag set up. Of course space is a premium so one has to work out ways to store stuff. These bags will hold medicine, batteries, usb and so on, plus the grate provides a little extra security.

I have yet to sew mattress covers, but the downstairs feels spacious and there's plenty of room over the cab. All of this is down to our clever design as we HATE being cramped. You may notice the seats aren't 50 year old Landie seats - they are more comfortable Audi seats.

Now look at all that room! Isn't it incredible? The life saver jerry can will have a tap on it so we can access water inside, but it can also be pulled out and put down underneath the downstairs bed if we sleep downstairs, and a section of foam will fit in to lengthen the bed.

It was so lovely to sit up and just stare at everything. Who would have thought a bit of flymesh would be so interesting. The breeze was lovely. I even had a view of Land Rovers. What more could one want?

There's still so much to do and so much to show you, but rest assured I'll be doing just that over the coming days and weeks!

With Love,

That is a pretty awesome setup!

As a side note those kinds of stove-top espresso makers are not super common here but I have used them for a really long time. They make the absolute best coffee!

We have tried lots of ways but found them the best for sure!

Same! So many ways!

Woohoo! This is amazing. This is giving me the idea of having my coffee anytime, anywhere😀 the room is nice.

I love having a cuppa on the road! It's so essential.

Hello, @riverflows, it is incredible what a good idea and good optimization of space can achieve, your Land Rover is at other levels and as you say, many that day would have copied a good idea. Congratulations and greetings.
