Piazza della Scala and Piazza Cordusio in Milan

in Worldmappinlast year
Hello everyone!

I invite you to the next part of visiting Milan. In such a large city, apart from the main large Cathedral Square ("Piazza del Duomo"), there are also other smaller ones that are worth visiting. Below in the photos I will present two of them, which are located next to the central square of Milan. The first is the "Piazza della Scala", which is connected to the Cathedral Square through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Just walk through it to get from one square to the other.

Witam wszystkich!

Zapraszam do kolejnej części zwiedzania Mediolanu.

The photo shows the entrance to the mentioned shopping center from the Square della Scala. It is interesting, although from the Cathedral Square side it is a bit more unique.

On the opposite side there is the building of the Banca Commerciale Italiana Palace from the beginning of the 20th century. On the right you can see a fragment of the Marino Palace from the 16th century.

The square della Scala itself was built in the second half of the 19th century.

Sam plac della Scala powstał w drugiej połowie XIX wieku.

In the central place on the square, surrounded by greenery and benches, there is a monument to Leonardo da Vinci from 1872.

Below the statue of Leonardo da Vinci are sculptures of his four disciples: Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, Marco d'Oggiono, Cesare da Sesto and Gian Giacomo Caprotti (under the pseudonym Andrea Salaino).

Poniżej statuy Leonardo da Vinci znajdują się rzeźby jego czterech uczniów: Giovanni Antonio Boltraffio, Marco d'Oggiono, Cesare da Sesto oraz Gian Giacomo Caprotti (pod pseudonimem Andrea Salaino).

In the photo above you can see the building from which the square was named - La Scala ("Teatro alla Scala"). It must be admitted that one of the most famous theaters in the world does not look as impressive from the outside as its fame. In his case, the most important thing is what happens inside. Maybe someday I'll have the opportunity to check it out. The first performance (Salieri's opera L'Europa riconosciuta) took place in 1778.

After walking around the square, we continue along the street "Via Tommaso Grossi" towards the next square.

Po obejściu placu ruszamy dalej ulicą "Via Tommaso Grossi" w kierunku kolejnego placu.

"Piazza Cordusio" - owalny plac otoczony piękną architekturą pałaców i kamienic.

The buildings mainly house various banks, clothing stores and cafes.

After visiting both squares, we continued along Dante Street (to the right in the photo) towards the Sforzesco Castle.
