"Ooh La La" is a song by English Rock band Faces, released in March 1973. It is the title song of the band's fourth and final studio album, "Ooh La La", released in March 1973. It was written by Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood and produced by Glyn Johns. Lead vocals were provided by Ronnie Wood, a rarity in the band's catalogue, and lead vocals were usually performed by Rod Stewart and less frequently by Ronnie Lane. Rod Stewart and Ronnie Lane each recorded lead vocals for the song, but neither was reportedly satisfied with their attempts. Glyn Johns suggested Ronnie Wood give it a try and this version was used for the track on the album. Source
The Faces - Ooh La La (1973)
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Poor old Granddad
I laughed at all his words
I thought he was a bitter man
He spoke of women's ways
"They trap you, then they use you
Before you even know
But love is blind and you're far too kind
Don't ever let it show"
[Chorus]
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was younger
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was stronger
[Verse 2]
"The can-can such a pretty show
Will steal your heart away
But backstage back on Earth again
The dressing rooms are grey
They come on strong and it ain't too long
'Fore they make you feel a man
But love is blind and you soon will find
You're just a boy again"
[Piano Solo]
[Verse 3]
"When you want her lips, you get her cheek
Makes you wonder where you are
If you want some more, then she's fast asleep
Leaves you twinkling with the stars
Poor young grandson, there's nothing I can say
You'll have to learn, just like me
And that's the hardest way, ooh la la
Ooh la la la la, yeah"
[Chorus]
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was younger
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was stronger
Songwriters: Ron Lane / Ronald Wood

The lyrics describe a dialogue between a grandfather and his grandson; The old man warns the young one about the perils of relationships with women. It's also an old man's pub lament and a song that slaps you on the back and welcomes you into the room. Ronnie Lane said in an interview that when he was a child, his father told him: “Son, learn to play a guitar, you’ll always have a friend", in fact, this is exactly the spirit of the song. The Faces created some of the friendliest rock & roll songs of the '70s, and "Ooh La La" became one of their biggest hits.

I listened to both versions of this song and I liked Rod Stewarts rendition better. This song is one of the best folk-rock songs I have heard.
