Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
Is there anything new with you? Cold, rain, drought, snow? None of that? There has been no change here, either. The days are getting shorter, the temperature is slowly dropping, and autumn is already at its peak. In short, there is nothing special. There is no reason for any celebration.
Well, let's say that #beersaturday, 348 in a row, is a reason/excuse/obligation to taste beer :)
Today, I have two beers in the fridge: German and Dutch. They are pretty different, but we will see how much.
The one with less alcohol first.
Bitburger Premium Pils
Brewed by Bitburger Brauerei, Bitburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 4.8% ABV, IBU 30.
It's a Pilsener or Pils-style beer brewed with the finest quality German malt and hops. It's bitter, with floral and herb aromas.
What do the Master Brewers say?
The perfected delight of pilsener with an accent of hops, combined with ease and elegance, and a crystal-clear, sunny straw-colour and long-lasting, fine head: brewed for almost two hundred years from the finest raw ingredients according to the German purity law, it's not for nothing that our Bitburger Premium Pils is the most popular draft beer in Germany. Its freshly-drawn flavour makes our Premium beer so well-loved.

It's a limited edition for UEFA EURO 24. I have no idea how it ended up in Crikvenica in the Spar store where I bought it - probably because of German tourists.
The beer is clear and yellow. There is a lot of head, but it disappears quickly. It has no smell. It goes down the throat smoothly and develops slightly bitterness on the palate with herbal and malty notes.
In the aftertaste, it all disappears quickly.
The beer is drinkable, a standard Pils without any special features. It is suitable for supporters, but it is not anything to remember. I have no idea why it is the most popular beer in Germany (as the master brewers claim).
Let's move on.
Amsterdam Detonator
Brewed by Grolsche Bierbrouwerij Ned. (Asahi), Boekelo, Overijssel, Netherlands.
Can, 0.5 l, alcohol 8.0% ABV, IBU N/A.
It's a Malt liquor-style beer, a solid North American lager spiced with corn, rice, molasses, sugar, and herbs.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Detonator is a with the flavour of aged rum. A delicate balance between malt, hops and aged rum create a beer with an intense and assertive flavour. The newest addition to the range; this is the most audacious of Amsterdam's beers, responding to a demand for diversity from lovers of characterful beers.

I have never tried such a concoction before.
The beer is golden in color, with a bit of head that disappears quickly. It smells of sugar cane or molasses. A sip goes smoothly down the throat. I taste the distinct sweetness of molasses, a slight bitterness, peppermint, and cloves. There is also the sweetness of the alcohol; the bitterness of the hops is nowhere to be found.
In the aftertaste, everything disappears quickly except the peppermint.
The beer is drinkable but extremely sweet for my taste. And there is too much alcohol. It's complex with all that sweetness and rum aroma, but it's only for some. Too much of a seasoning. For dessert with a sweet. But not for thirst.
It won't even be in my fridge as an example of an extreme beer.

I find the more alcoholic lagers are the more sweet they are, Nothing special to celebrate and your beers did nothing ti help you celebrate!
But yes autumn is full on here too.
Yes, lagers already have some sweetness, and if they have more alcohol, they are even sweeter.
The designers of the beers you post are amazing, that's something we lack here in Brazil. The visual aspect also counts. !BEER
I find the design classic, one for football fans and one for sailors (probably because it's flavored with rum). I could be wrong, though.
Boy, here in Brazil there is no such diversity of colors and an attractive design. Few beers invest in this, here it is basically the traditional: specific brand color, highlighted name and that's it. When I see international beers, my mouth waters to try them just by seeing the perfect cans, a show of images.
The detonator beer does not sound good to me. Peppermint in beer? That is a strange ingredient and does not sound appealing. It's never good when a beer is described as a concoction 😂
You are right, and it didn't suit me either. But because they make them, they have clients. But it's worth a try to know what's not for you :) !BEER
