Door To Door
A sector that many Americans don't even believe exists anymore. But in Europe, D2D is actually growing thanks to GDRP rules that prevent businesses from contacting members of the public via phone, text, post and email without their express permission.
Guess what cold sales sector isn't affected by Data Protection?

The reason you want to do door to door sales is because of it's life value. That's why it's best to do while you're still young, investments pay off in time, so give yourself plenty of time.
Things You'll Learn
Confidence
One of the first things you'll notice is a change in your base confidence. You won't be worried about approaching strangers.
Speech Level 100!
Theres no point being so confident if you haven't got the gift of the gab, so to speak. Imagine pitching hundreds of people every week, convincing them to hand over bank details to someone they met a minute ago. In my case, I do door to door for charities, so the people I sign up don't get anything out of it! They pay £2 a week just because they believe its a good cause.
This ability to quickly and effectively build rapport and trust in a brief period of time, and then use that connection to influence someone is absolutely priceless. It's the difference between success and failure in almost any fast maced social situation.
Reading
Having confidence and talking skills are all well and good but are useless when you're unable to analyse a social setting.
Influencing people means you're gonna need to work out everyone's goals, motives and what they'll do to fulfill them.
Lying is a part of everyday life, and sniffing out a lie is heavily important when it comes to sussing someone. Something that you'll learn how to do effortlessly on the doors is both detecting lies, and pulling one off the right way.
Once you can read someone, you can adapt what you're doing so that people read you in the way you want to be read.
Body language and tone of voice
The main way you come across to people is generally not what you say, but what you do.
Actions speak louder than words.
Body language is a million different actions.
Think of a shy person at a party. Are they stood in the middle of the room with their legs shoulder width apart?
Think of a politician or a businessman giving a hug. How long do they hold it for? Do they pat the back of the other person?
Mastering your social is one of the most important things you can do to get you anywhere in life. Take a look at any successful person and you'll see what I mean.

The best way to develop, like I said, is not to take a sales degree, or a communication skills night course, but to go door to door and attempt to sell people something they don't need or want.
Real Dollars
Don't think for one second that door to door people are poorly paid, or that they're in a dead end/temporary position.
I used to work with a woman who made £70,000 a year, simply knocking doors for charities. How? Through bonuses. Uncapped bonuses. She was making more than doctors, yet every day she'd have someone look at her like she was a scum of the earth beggar.
But Not Forever
There comes a point when you've gotten everything you can from door knocking. Sure, you can get promoted, these companies are often huge, of course you can make a career out of it. But be careful, I know people who've been fundraising so long that they don't know anything else.
Even if you leave, those skills will be with you for the rest of your life.
Good luck.

You basically learn to be a master salesman and in some cases, depending on whose answering the door, a seductive persuader.
