W zeszłym roku, władze Katowic przekombinowały i przy okazji zmian w strefach płatnego parkowania (co wydaje się zasadne i rozsądne) napisały do KMP w Katowicach z prośbą o opinię. Policja odpisała, że znaczna część miejsc parkingowych w śródmieściu znajduje się za blisko przejść i skrzyżowań. Na podstawie niezobowiązującej opinii, miasto zaczęło kasować tysiace miejsc parkingowych. Następnie część odtworzono po weryfikacji w terenie. Następnie dla kolejnej fali odtworzenia zmniejszono bezpieczeństwo pieszych poprzez likwidację przejść umieszczając w ich miejsce przejścia sugerowane, gdzie pieszy nie ma pierwszeństwa, ale można parkować bezpośrednio obok. Mieszkańcy centrum są podzieleni. Ruch samochodów wrócił do trendów sprzed zmiany, w dostępność miejsc parkingowych w efekcie się nie zwiększyła. Co prawda wyrzucono PGG, ale w jego miejsce weszło Ministerstwo Przemysłu. Nie poszly za tym też zmiany w komunikacji zbiorowej, nie poszła nawet komunikacja medialna, która wyjaśniłaby, jak korzystać z centrów przesiadkowych. Garaże murowane w Śródmieściu czy na Koszutce kosztują już 150 tys. zł, prywatne miejsca parkingowe kosztują już 600 zł miesięcznie.

Based on the non-binding opinion, the city began to cancel thousands of parking spaces. Then, part of it was recreated after field verification. Then, for the next wave of reconstruction, pedestrian safety was reduced by eliminating crossings and replacing them with suggested crossings, where pedestrians do not have priority, but can park directly next to them. The residents of the center are divided. Car traffic returned to pre-change trends, and the availability of parking spaces did not increase. It is true that PGG was thrown out, but the Ministry of Industry took its place. There were no changes in public transport, and there was not even media communication that would explain how to use transfer centers. Brick garages in Śródmieście or Koszutka cost as much as PLN 150,000. PLN, private parking spaces cost PLN 600 per month.
