Liquid STEEM Report Nov 19, 2018

in #steemit6 years ago

This is a historical graph of both Total STEEM and Liquid STEEM supply

(Note) There are two different scales on this graph. For full scale, see graph below.

Liquid STEEM is the remaining STEEM that has not been converted into Steem Power. (Orange Line)

  • When STEEM is liquid, it can be readily sold and purchased.
  • When STEEM is locked away in SP, it is not liquid, It takes a significant amount of time to convert it back to a liquid form.

This is a graph of the same data. The data of this graph was plotted on the same scale to show the massive difference between Liquid STEEM and STEEM stored in SP

I created these charts with data that I collected over the last few months.

Why are these graphs important?

STEEM is created at a high rate. Currently 8.68% per year. Many Steemians have a concern about STEEM inflation with the high rate of new currency creation. These graphs show that there is a limited supply of STEEM. Inflation is being offset by the rate of STEEM converted to Non-Liquid STEEM.

Nice information @socky. Question, two big gaps of liquid is because some whale have giving power up or could be another fact that made this?

No, actually the gap is how much steem is not liquid. This steem is stored in the form of Steem Power, which is a good sign of investment commitment.

The remaining is the amount of STEEM that can be transferred at any time without restriction. It is healthy to have a decent amount of Liquid STEEM. If the amount of liquid steem gets low, then it can become very valuable.

I talking about that gap:

Sorry about the confusion, I mean the dropped from the liquid Steem. That quantity needs to be a power up, or could be anything else?

That chart has two scales. The blue line is on the scale to the left. The orange line is on a scale to the right. The scales are adjusted so that you can see what is happening with both. This way you can see if they are trending up, down, the same, or different. The sudden drop is when someone takes a bunch of STEEM and stores it as SP. This converts Liquid STEEM to non-liquid STEEM. When you put both on the same scale, you have my second chart.
