Tyrus Paladium
Tyrus woke in his room. Made his bed and then went to sit at this table. There he drank some water and ate some bread planing his day out in his mind. There would be a few test at the magic school but he was not concerned with that. Magic had come easy to him like it should. He was was from a ancient bloodline. First born in his family and with out a doubt he was the strongest mage in the school. For him there was only on true quest that was to become a summoner. There had been talk in the world of summoners showing up in the other lands and he knew that if someone was going to reach this level in his kingdom it would be him. He headed off to his first class with plans spend the time reading another book on summoning. Healing magic was a boring he would leave that to the priest.
He was lost in the book that he found last night. When his teacher walked up to him.
"Tryus why are you reading that book? You don't have the magic to be a summoner! You can't even cast a simple healing spell. If fact your name might be the only reason I can't kick you out of this school."
The other students laughed. Tyrus paid them no mind. He just looked around the room taking note of the ones that laughed. As usual most looked away as he caught their eyes. The few that tried to stare back at him lost there nerve after a moment.
"I have no need of this magic so I don't care to learn it. You have enough simpletons in the back to cast healing spells. Go on with your teaching in case I get a paper cut."
He could see the anger build in the teachers face but he calmed down and went back to teaching. That old man like to poke at my family but it is only cause his severed mine. Getting back into the book Tyrus found something new, a summoners staff. It was said that the order had a staff that could help a summoner focus his energy to bring forth the very Angels of Light. He knew at last what he needed. Once he had that staff he was sure he could show them. The power that he had it just wasn't time yet. None of them are worth the trouble.
Tryus walked into the head of the schools office. He would have to know where the staff was. They got to talking right away.
"Tryus that old relic has about as much magic as you. It is stored somewhere in the basement. We couldn't find any use for it. So if you can find it sure you can have it just make sure you tell you family I took care of you"
He wants more money thought Tryus. How that man eve came to run this school was a joke. His magic was so weak and the others all claimed he was something special. He wondered just how his kingdom would ever fight back if this was one of the best they had. Lucky they have me. He left the office and headed down to find the staff. He grabbed a few of the servants to help with the search he couldn't be there all day.
On the third day of searching one of the servants found the staff. Tryus gave him a gold coin as he walked away with the case. He wanted to be alone when he first touched it. Back in his room he looked it over for a moment. He could feel the power coming off it. He had no idea why the others thought it had no magic. This relic was beyond any they had shown him by far. He couldn't wait any longer so he took hold of the staff.
The power flowed into him and joined his own. He could feel it growing and growing. Then a calm came over him. He was able to see so much now even with his eyes closed. The staff started to talk to him and he knew the words to say next. He could feel the winds swirling around him as he finished the chant. When he opened his eyes he could see the Elemental in front of him. Not bad for first try I am sure the Angel will be next.
"Such raw power you have young summoner. I am here to greet you and warn you of the battles that are coming. You will need to master many magics if we are to win this fight."
"Oh even you telling me that I need to master more. I really feel that I know enough. Here I will show you a bit of what I can do. "
With that Tryus let lose many of the simple spell the school thought so impressive then he went to a window and looked out at the Knights outside training. This ought to show him. With that he cast something not seen in ages in his lang. Protect not for himself but for everyone in the school. Knights below stop in shock when their blow bounced of a shield they couldn't see.
"I am sorry master summoner I didn't know."
"Yes I forgive you. I haven't really showed many my true powers. But you are worthy of seeing what I can do."
They talked more into the night about the blight. Tryus was amazed that a new evil was coming into the land. He had wanted something worth of his power to fix. Something to make him a legend like the summoners of old. This was it for sure he would save the world.
The next morning Tryus headed out of the school early. He was done with this place and was ready to join the fight. The blight had started to gain ground in the east and he wasn't about to let anyone else take the glory.
"Tryus where are you going? I can't just let you wander off alone it isn't safe. There has been some strange magic here that we don't understand yet. "
It was the head of the school. Just worried about the payments I am sure. It is time to let him see I suppose. He closed his eyes and raised the staff into the air. He chanted the words that he knew and kept chanting even as he heard the gasp around him. He knew a crowd was gathering.
"As you can see I am never really alone headmaster. There really is no need to worry about me. I am am off to save the world. Lucky for you I am grateful that you knew where to look for this staff. So I will make sure that you continue to get some funding. Goodbye"
As Tryus turned to walk away his army walked with him. The legendary knights of the silver shield, the divine healers of old, the clay golem, the air elemental and even spurts they couldn't really see followed him. As he continued on he knew that this world would know his name. None of them would ever forget who Tryus Paladium was.

This is a long story for you. Pretty good too. I'm glad you're entering these contests. Have you got an honorable mention yet? If not, it's just a matter of time.
Ya last 3 I I got 2, then 3, 4th. I still feel like some times my story is as good as the one that won. But they have been saying it is hard to pick. I still get a few packs and sometimes my story is picked up by curie. I tried to make it longer as I have seen some of the longer stories win.
It's all subjective. I've thought some of mine would be sure winners then weren't. It happens. Just write another one and give it another go. Glad to see your name getting out there.
I thought you did really well at showing the arrogance of the boy through the words that you used.
Sadly, it's school like that for the smarter ones? Always picked on by those who don't understand and looked down upon.
Yes, think of a novice not being able to see the smarts of a true master. Or skills as it isn't always book smarts that make one a master.

Dang, dude that's pretty awesome. You are getting really good at this.
I just won a starter pack on a discord server and this card was in it. lol, now I just have to figure out what to do with all of them. I do not need to start playing, I would be addicted, and I have no time for that....
Thanks, I enjoy writing a lot. I didn't really know that is what I would be doing here but that is what worked out for me.
