Hello Hello Hivians and Wednesday Walkers
This was actually my walk on Saturday.
As you will see there were a couple of variables that were outwith my control. In other words I was not sure where I would be going or if it was going to rain in which case I would be nipping inside somewhere and grabbing a coffee lol!
Today I am walking back in time to the afternoon of Saturday 27th January and all these pictures have been captured with my smartphone.
I did take my camera but those photos are still on memory card and I have not gone through them yet!
Wrap up warm and let's go!
Well this is where we start today, it is the warm memorial that also serves as a library, art gallery and cafe. Mrs T has a crochet club there so after we walked to the club I set off on my adventure!
The weather, I did not bring my umbrella, but I was wearing my winter fleeced hoodie so fluff it, away we go!
Decisions Decisions which way to go?
I do like the sign posts that are popping up now, and the wee info maps, always makes things look great.
Made my mind up, it is to the seafront we shall go.
So we need to get to the High Street first and this is us going past the Sherriff Court!
Can you name the three flags on the roof / on the flag poles?
Look at the back of that car, can you see the red L on the white sign?
That is L for Learner so in theory the car is being driven by someone who has not passed their test.
What do you use in your country to show a learner driver?
Well thankfully it is brightening up a wee bit, you can see a gorgeous blue in the sky.
This part of the High Street is still used as in there are no empty shops which is always a good thing.
This was behind me and where I had just come from. Can you see a wee queue on the left, that is the bank, I had just used the ATM.
Right onwards we go.
Where is an alley or street to duck down.
The lights on the left are a pub which was put up for sale, so it must have been bought as it is open again, that is always good to see.
Do you see the sea at bottom?
Well to walk along the beach the tide needs to be out.
Whilst the sea looks calm, I can't tell from here whether the tide is in or out!
So let's find out!
Oh no it was high tide!
Well that means no walking along the esplanade or does it?
The steps down to the beach!
Did we bring our scuba equiment? Nope.
It's not happening!
Yes that would be a soaking if we went down those stairs!
Do you see all the ships in the distance?
The have those staircases all along the esplanade but the it is the same story.
We are going to head towards the buildings at the bottom.
So no beach combing today and it is back on the tarmac and walking on the esplanade.
Can you something in the distance that is red?
Do you see it now more clearly?
A big steel red heart that was installed a couple of months ago and was the first time I had seen it!
This guy was taking a picture of this love in the heart his motorbike!
Enough with the heart, actually I took a load of pics with the camera and will save for a rainy day!
In meantime about turn and let's get a move on!
Yes it is going to be back uphill to the library and the war memorial.
I have seen a few posts about Bikes on Hive recently.
This is a cool place as they also promote cycling in the community.
They are called Lang Toun Cycles.
Lang Toun being Scottish for Long Town.
Because Kirkcaldy is indeed a Lang Toun!
Now it was time to head up the Wynd.
These are two of my favourite buildings in the town.
The Auld Kirk is on the left and they have finished renovating it, so I shall show you that in a different post.
Before we walk on, I shall show you the supermarket scurge!
I wonder if you guess what it is?
Yes trolleys or supermarket shopping carts, they end up bloody everywhere!
Even at the bottom of the entrance to the Auld Kirk!
There we shall close this walk as I have realised I am only half way though!
So this will be part 1 and next week I shall conclude it.
This post is for a January walk of 2024 for #wednesdaywalk which was started by the wonderful @tattoodjay.
Thanks for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!

Hi @tengolotodo, beautiful ride, too bad you couldn't walk along the shore of the beach. In my country those cars are called "auto escuela".
I really liked your city and your description of it is beautiful.
Thanks for sharing it. Have a nice Wednesday.😀
Hiya @mamani yes you are right it was a shame about the beach, ah well there is always next time. The cars yes, Driving School is how we translate Auto Escuela.
Thank you for stopping in and Happy Thursday to you :)
That is so nice! I love the old looking building with the new looking Optical Express, two different in one place! That looks like a nice place to visit and walk around, really pretty.
Those stairs were a little precarious though! I love those two older buildings as well. Too bad people leave the carts just about anywhere but the super market. I guess it's not only a problem here in the US. It's just common courtesy to return the cart to the right location.
I can't wait to see more pictures of the Auld Kirk!
!BBH
Ah shopping carts, we usually have to put a pound coin in them to use them and then return to the line of carts and you get your pound back, but they get thrown everywhere, ponds canals you name it!
Aye The Auld Kirk is cool, they had scaffolding up and curtains around it for ages.
At least there you have to put down a deposit for a cart, not here... Homeless people tend to steal them to haul their stuff around.

I’m not sure if that’s a Swedish flag I see… the breeze won’t let me. Then American? And 🇬🇧 U.K. Please tell me I got my flags right?
We also use L for learner. Once we see and L we give space like my mother says.
I see the sea bum bum and duck town? Like it’s filled with ducks or they eat ducks?
The yellow and blue has the colours of Sweden 🇸🇪 but it is Ukraine 🇺🇦 and it is on the roof.
The two on the flag poles are Scotland 🏴 and the UK 🇬🇧
The ducks well they were all in the park, and the bum bum covered up by the sea!
Ahh. A massive F in flag course then…
😂
Well room for improvement!
What a nice walk you show us today, I love how it stars in the city and ends on the beach. The pictures are beautiful, I really love the cityscape and rainy days, I think is a lovely combination.
I loved the big red heart, I can only imagine how many cute pictures I could take there with my husband ❤️.
By the way, in my country 🇨🇺 the cars for learnes has a sign on top that says: "Auto-Escuela", is something like "School car".
I think in a couple of weeks time it will be popular, it is a new statue so never had a Valentine's day before for couples!
thank you it is a fun walk even in winter time.
Oh yes the Auto-Escuela we have hear and they are called "Driving School".
I'm sure this February 14 the heart statue will have a lot of visitors 😊
I thought in the UK you never left homw without an umbrella LOL Just kiddign of course
evenon a grey day still a cool walk and fun to read
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Have a great day :)
Hehe I was out last night and I did take my umbrella, but on the way home it was too windy to use it haha
The is the problem too often it is windy and rainy!
Thanks and have a cracking day Jay.
I personally hate umbrellas and never use them
and NYC is terrible for the wind, on rainy days I always used to laught seeing allthe blown apart umbrellas in rubbish tines all over the city
This looks like a lovely walk. One of the things I miss about living in the city was being able to walk to a lot of places. I didn't always take advantage, but it was always a nice option!
It is good having options. I do like being able to walk where I want to, it is a small town, but we live close enough that is no need for a car.
That's pretty cool. Things in the US still require a car, but depending on the area, you can reach a lot of places if you are in the city.
How are you dear friend @tengolotodo good morning
What a beautiful city, I love these walks through these places. In Argentina, if you do not pass the driving test, they do not give you a driver's license, therefore you are not in a position to drive a car. You can do so if you wish, but you run the risk of being fined, and your car may even be stolen until a person with authorized registration comes to pick up the municipality's warehouse
I really like the architecture of the city and the cobblestone streets, how beautiful the view of the streets that end at the sea coast
What a pity that the sea is high, and they have not been able to walk along the coast, but I must admit that you have taken some beautiful shots
The stone constructions make the buildings look really beautiful, I love this type of period buildings
Thank you very much for sharing this Wednesday walking experience.
Hello my dear friend, I do love hearing what we do in our different countries @jlufer
Here as long as the learner driver has an L on their car and that there is a qualified driver in the car, then you can drive the car until you become qualified!
The stone buildings I love as we don't make buildings like that anymore!
Here in Panama it was prohibit for people learning to drive go out into public roads, they now have schools with parking lots where people learn, they use to be allow to practice on public roads but there were so many accidents it was prohibit, here people drive like savages, use the horn every other second, its chaos, btw why would trolleys end up there? are people allow to take them out of the supermarket? it look very windy and chill 🥶✌️
Yes the trolleys get stolen and get dumped all over the place.
Oh so Panama is like Spain that they have special places to drive.
Winter is windy and chilli compared to Panama!

Very cool #WednesdayWalk adventure, @tengolotodo! Seeing your photos from from that lovely town is so interesting, as it's soooo different from here! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
Good that you kept your distance from the tide. These photos are awesome especially the of community bike shop. You had a good day. Best wishes.
Can a learner drive this car alone without the trainer sitting beside him or her?
In Bangladesh, anyone can drive a car! No need for any license!!!
In Oman, it's a bit strict. There are specific cars for training purposes.
screenshot from Google search
A learner can only drive this car during his/her training and the instructor must sit in the passenger seat (right side) with a break in his/her control. Hence, Every instructor must have this car. When he drives this car for other purposes, the normal number plate is enough. When the learner is in the driving seat, additional plates will be put both in the front and back of the car, similar to one L in your picture.
Without passing the test, the learner can't drive other cars!
