Zodiac Sign is NOT an Excuse for Bad Behaviour.

I’m sure you must have heard or at least, once read whether online or physical, people saying, “I’m Leo, so I’m naturally arrogant and blunt”, “I’m Pisces, so I’m not trying to gaslight you, I just cry when I get emotional”, “I’m Scorpio, so I’m naturally mean”.

This begs the question, is zodiac sign an excuse for people to condone bad habits?

While I wouldn’t say I don’t believe in zodiac signs, in fact I do. There used to be a time that once I was getting to know someone, whether in friendship, relationship or acquaintance, I would desire to find out their birthday, just so I could check the personality traits for their zodiac sign as I believe this will help me know the best ways to not only understand them but also relate with them.

But as I grew, I realized that although, some personality traits for each zodiac signs are true, for example, how cancers are naturally more sensitive and emotional, how Libra can become friends with just about anybody, how Sagittarius are an open book, what you see is what you get and so on, I believe there are also other factors to contribute in deciding a person’s personality traits.

In fact, talking on the topic of personality, aside the zodiac signs, there’s also this classification (phlegmatic, melancholy, sanguine, choleric), there’s also the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).

And I’m pretty sure there are probably more classifications and studies on human personality. But I’m also as well sure that these studies weren’t done just for people to use them as a sorry excuse for bad behavior.

Now, life is always yin and yang, that’s how there can be balance. Everything that has a pro must have a con. These human personality studies have a lot of advantages, for instance, it can give you a push into getting to know more about whomever you want to. Of course, a rational person would know not to judge a person based on what their zodiac sign says but the truth is, there’s is a connection.

These things also help one in personal development journey. There’s nothing quite as powerful as self-awareness which can further help one build a good level of self-esteem. For most people that don’t even know themselves, starting with things like their zodiac sign, personality type or the MBTI can give them further insight into why they are the way they are.

However, the good thing about life is that somehow, life has made certain that everyone is unique in their own ways and that is why, even twins will always have different personalities. This is because of so many factors which may include the people we meet, environment we live in, things that spark our interests, our view on life and so on.

I find it an insult that people took their precious time to research and invent these solutions to help people find answers, yet some people use it so wrongly.

But the good thing is, this way, we can know who is genuine about their self-development journey and those that are just looking to breeze along this experience called life.
