I think it’s incredible how powerful soccer is for those who love this sport with passion. It’s insane how we can hate and love the same club, with the same intensity, in just a matter of seconds.
I’m a Corinthians fan. A lot. Absurdly. On Wednesday, we were eliminated from the pre-Libertadores. The amount I cursed this damn team? Impossible to measure. “Damn team,” “bunch of shameless players,” “I can’t take suffering for you anymore.” All of that came out of my mouth. And once again, I swore I wouldn’t care so much.
Today, it’s the Paulista Championship final. First leg. Derby. Classic. Against the "pigs" – aka Palmeiras. That anger I felt on Wednesday? Gone. As if it never existed. Because the love I have for Timão will always be bigger than any elimination, any bad phase. The only thing that matters is the now.
Of course, I watched the match. Of course, I cursed at the first mistake. Cursed again. Said I hated this team, that I couldn’t take it anymore, that I was done suffering. But one second later, there I was, cheering again. And then the goal came. I screamed, scared Margot, celebrated like it was a Club World Cup final – one that Palmeiras doesn’t have! Hahaha. Did I cry? Maybe. Cursed Corinthians as a damn team one more time. But, my God, how good it feels to love and hate you at the same time, Timão.
Soccer is insane. It strips away every trace of rationality. It makes you suffer, scream, cry – from anger and from joy. But in the end, there’s no way around it. I’m Corinthians. Until I die.

Eu acho incrível o poder que o futebol tem sobre quem ama esse esporte de paixão. É insano como conseguimos odiar e amar o mesmo clube, com a mesma intensidade, em questão de segundos.
Eu sou Corinthiana. Muito. Absurdamente. Na quarta-feira, fomos eliminados na pré-Libertadores. O tanto que eu xinguei esse time maldito? Não dá nem pra mensurar. "Time desgraçado", "bando de sem vergonha", "eu não aguento mais sofrer por vocês". Tudo isso saiu da minha boca. E eu jurei, mais uma vez, que não ia me importar tanto.
Hoje, final do Campeonato Paulista. Jogo de ida. Derby. Clássico. Contra a porcada – vulgo Palmeiras. Aquele ódio que eu sentia na quarta? Sumiu. Como se nunca tivesse existido. Porque o sentimento de amor pelo Timão sempre vai ser maior do que qualquer eliminação, qualquer fase ruim. O que importa é o agora.
Óbvio que eu fui assistir. Óbvio que eu xinguei no primeiro erro. Xinguei de novo. Disse que odiava esse time, que não dava mais, que ia parar de sofrer. Mas um segundo depois, lá estava eu, torcendo de novo. E então veio o gol. Gritei, assustei a Margot, comemorei como se fosse uma final de Mundial - que o Palmeiras não tem! hahahaha Chorei? Talvez. Xinguei o Corinthians de maldito mais uma vez. Mas, meu Deus, como é bom te amar e odiar ao mesmo tempo, Timão.
O futebol é insano. Ele tira qualquer vestígio de racionalidade da gente. Ele faz sofrer, faz gritar, faz chorar – de raiva e de alegria. Mas, no fim das contas, não tem jeito. Eu sou Corinthians. Até morrer.
