Hello, tasteemers!
I can't believe that we are now in Kim's Taste #14 after almost two months! This is considered a milestone considering that I'm so busy with my day job. To tell you honestly, I only have time to write using my phone when I'm at the jeep going to work or at the bus going home.
If there are long weekends and holidays, I can have time to write properly, but I usually end up travelling or procrastinating or just doing nothing except eat and sleep. Writing half-assed reviews is not in my vocabulary, so uploading a new post would usually take two days.
So much with my writing life, let's talk about a place where we ended up eating last Wednesday. It was payday so we decided to go to SM City Cebu to have dinner. I was craving for noodles and my friend was craving for ramen, so I guess there was no compromise needed.
We decided to eat at Ramen Dojo. Let's dig in further with our experience in that ramen place.
Remember: If you happen to be in one of the restaurants in my review, we might have different preferences, as well as experiences, so our ratings might not be exactly the same. As always, this review is exclusive for @tasteem.
Ramen Dojo is located at the Northwing, 2nd Level of SM City Cebu, Cebu City, Cebu, Philippines. It's near Vikings Buffet and Forever21.
So, as I told you that it was payday and we were craving for some noodles. When we reached Ramen Dojo, I observed that there are quiet a number of people already eating their ramen. The place was cozy and casual.
We immediately went to the counter to order our choice. Vanessa, my friend and workmate, ordered Spicy Tantan while I ordered Spicy Sichuan. We both chose level 2 in terms of spiciness. I initially chose level 3, but the staff there warned me that it will be super spicy. I got afraid that I wouldn't enjoy my ramen so, I changed my mind to level 2.
In terms of price, you can have a bowl of ramen for just Php 180.00. It's cheaper than any other ramen shops in Cebu. I would say that the price is just right for that quality. One thing I noticed is that their drinks are overpriced. I ordered Minute Maid juice drink for Php 70.00. It's way higher compared to the price outside of just Php 30.00. If you're not ordering any drinks, they have service water, so I guess it's fine.
Now for the taste, I would say that choosing level 2 in terms of spiciness was a good choice. I have relatively high tolerance in terms of spiciness and I love spicy foods, but that Spicy Sichuan has a kick that sweat went dripping from my nose. If I stick with my initial choice, I wouldn't have enjoyed that ramen.
It was my first time eating Spicy Sichuan ramen so I don't have anything to compare. All I can say is that I enjoyed it and it was filling. The noodles are properly cooked, but I think they're not made on the shop. If I'm craving ramen again, I will try other ramen flavors at Ramen Dojo.
I tasted Vanessa's Spicy Tan tan because I wanted to compare it with Sachi's Tantanmen. It was tasty, but there's a burnt aftertaste. I would say that Sachi's Tantanmen is better, but Ramen Dojo's Spicy Tantan is not far from it.
Normally, a ramen is to be accompanied by gyoza when dining at Ramen Dojo for a separate price. We didn't order gyoza because we only wanted ramen that night. I think they have their combo meals available so you can just check their menu for your choice.
Overall, it was a filling night and Ramen Dojo is still recommendable to my friends. Although there might be better ramen flavors out there, Ramen Dojo is good for its price.
I guess that's all for my review. Please don't hesitate to comment anything that you want to express! Also, thank you in advance for showing some love by upvoting this post!

See you in my next review!
