For example do dairy cows suffer when they separated from their calves ? You often hear people involved in these ethical discussions say that cows cannot experience pain or cows not sadness when you separate them from calves. Because they simply can not feel sadness because is human emotions.
And talk about what cows can sadness means to humanize cows. Such allegations that can often be heard in the debate about the welfare of the divot reflect the disregard by scientists of these issues. Of course there are different views on the treatment of cows in the dairy industry, but only on the basis of scientific facts people are entitled to have own views. However, they are not entitled to their own facts. Consider this question, is it ok to inflict pain on cows in order to provide pleasure of people.
So what are the facts in 2018 we have?
The first and most important thing in the scientific presentation at the end of 2018 is that all mammals and all birds are conscious intelligent creatures. They all have the ability to experience feelings and emotions as opposed to a complete lack of evidence and scientific reasons for thinking that lettuce or tomatoes may feel pain or fear. Another important fact is that they have a very complex world of feelings and emotions.
Emotions are something that natural selection has developed in all mammals and other animals in order to make decisions in life. Of course, not all human emotions are inherent for animals, such as feelings of guilt, for example. But there is another important and common emotion for all is motherly love, the connection between mother and offsprings. Despite this, we still ignore this outside the scientific context in the context of industrial animal husbandry.
Technically the cow is fertilized and it gives birth and then the calf is separated from the maternal care that the calf does not drink milk. There is one more important need, like that of a human child, a puppy or a calf, this need to play it is laid down historically. A humane satisfies his important and not important needs.
So why do not we reckon with the emotional feelings of other animals.
I think so. I am glad someone else understands what they go thru.
